Hi, Can anybody specify the difference, if any, in Extra Cooling package parts between cars with and without A/C, Thermactor and 4 speed and Automatic for the 67 GT350 cars and HiPo (K-code) Mustangs? What fan, radiator and fan-shrouds did these different versions come with from Ford San Jose? Did any 67 HiPo (K-code) Mustang and Shelby come with the standard cooling package from Ford? The DSO sheets from Ford should probably show the answers to these questions. Thanks for your help. Texas Swede
Hi TX Swede, I'm new here and I have enjoyed the reading thus far! I can't provide you with an answer that is Shelby specific/related, but I can say that '67 K-codes were available without the "extra cooling package" option. I have a '67 KGT fastback from Detroit that does not have the option and I have a '67 KGT fastback from SJ that does have the option. The Marti report clearly shows the "extra cooling" option for the SJ car and does not show it for the Detroit car. Tom
All of the 67 GT350 had the larger radiator for the extra cooling package. If you had A/C or thermactor you got a 24F battery instead of the standard smaller 22F battery. You also got a clutch fan instead of the standard fixed 4 blade fan. The fan shrouds were all the same since the radiators were the same. The upgrades were the same for 4 speed or auto.
Thanks Bob, Just to clarify, all 67 GT350 got the Extra Cooling package with the 20.34 inch radiator and fan-shrould and the cars without A/C and/or Thermactor got the 4 blade fan marked C6OE-D. Cars with A/C and/or Thermactor got a clutch fan. Do you know if the same applies for all 67 K-code Mustangs? /Texas Swede
Bob, Which clutch fan was used for the AC and/or Thermactor cars? Do you know if the K-code Mustangs followed suit? One other question, was the radiator a two or three row unit? Thanks, Tom
You understand correctly on the 67 Shelby. I can not confirm if the same applies to the 67 K code mustang. I don't think any K code besides a Shelby got A/C or P/S and I haven't been around enough K code regular 67 mustangs to venture a guess.
The 1967 Shelb'ys with A/C or thermactor used a fan clutch that was unique to the 67 Shelby and was marked on the flange with a C7ZX engineering number. With few exceptions a C7ZX part was assemblyline only and was not serviced. If it needed replaced it was serviced with a regular mustang fan clutch. The smallblock fan clutch is longer then the big block fan clutch. The radiator was a 2 row.
I have a spare clutch for my 67 GT500. It is an AC car, the part number is C7ZE-A. It's a service replacement according to the Nevada Shelby site: http://www.nvsaac.com/shelbyparts/Shelby_tech_main.htm
Here's pictures of the cooling fan from my '67 GT350 #2751. This car came with the extra cooling pack and the clutch fan. It has Thermactor system (currently removed), 4-speed trans and no AC. David
