Oil preasure line question

    When I bought my '67 GT 500 some 33 years ago, the line from the oil filter adapter to the Shelby oil preasure gauge was copper tubing. It seems that every '67 GT500 I've seen has plastic tubing. Was the copper tubing correct or did the owner before me not believe in plastic. I don't mind using plastic but if copper was originally used I'd rather stick with that. Any help would be appreciated.

    The clear nylon tubing is what came from the factory. Some people felt it wasn't heavy duty enough to take the abuse and changed to the copper . The nylon can take all that the copper can but keep it away from the hot exhaust . That is why it was routed from the oil filter adapter over to the loops that hold the headlight wiring harness, back to the firewall and then under the master cylinder and zip tied to the wiper wire and into the same hole as the amp gauge.I hope this helps

    Does this apply to the later cars?
    I was just viewing a 70 GT500 under restoration and copper was present.
    Is this year also supposed to be plastic?

    Believe the 69-70 uses an electric gauge rather than a mechanical (started in 68)

    But of course.
    I recall seeing the electrical sending wire next to the hard line...
    The previous owner had replaced the electrical units with mechanical S/Ws.

    I was searching through the archives and was viewing the 67 oil pressure query before I came across this one.
    1+1=3.
