I am looking for who may make the package tray for the rear seat delete for the 65 shelby r-code cars. The one that allows you to see the rear spare tire through the rear window. I found it some time ago at Tony Branda but its not there anymore and I would like to find out my options on who else may have this part offered.. If anyone has one that they want to part with I am interested

And also here: i believe they are the supplier to both mentioned because the part numbers on boxes were almost identical: MU-515.
I did not compare these units side by side, put them in 2 different cars. both (Branda's and listing) were very well laid (spitzered?), quality parts.

It's hard to see from the small photos on the Unlimited products page but it doesn't look like theirs has the holes for rear shock access as does the Cobra Automotive version. It's certainly cheap enough at $155!

Outstanding!!!!!! thanks guys and gals...the difference from nearly 300 and 155.00 is substantial.. I will cut my own shock holes in it for that...

In the unlimited fiberglass unit, the holes are outlined, but not cut out. You can just make out the depressions in the pic.

One question I have always had regarding the spare tire on the R-Model, how was it held i place well enough to pass inspection? I noticed in the Daytona coupe there is some sort of bungee cord like strap. What held the GT350's race tire in place? Pressure, surly not.

The stock 65 style mustang spare tire hold down was moved by Shelby to under were the spare tire sits on the package tray and it was secured in the same way it would if in the trunk. As to the difference between the Cobra Automotive and the Branda or Mustangs Unlimited trays ,they look the same on the top side but to any knowledable collector or judge the Cobra Automotive package tray looks like the original and the others are easily identified as repro.
The fiberglass material used on the original and the Cobra Automotive tray are the same. The texture is different on the backside of the tray seen from the trunkside that is why there is a difference in price. The correct looking tray is the choice of knowledgable Collectors ,Restorers and concours Judges. If the originality is not a issue then you should buy the cheaper ones as they will perform every bit as well .

So that I understand, by you saying the stock style mustang spare tire hold down, you are referring to the metal loop that is welded to the body on the inside of the trunk? If so was a new one fabricated and riveted to the fiberglass rear shelf?

    Thanks

Also another question regarding the package tray instalation. Are the plastic qtr panels, rear qtr corner panles, sail panels still used. If so how do the ,or where do the roll bars go through them..is this a specialty part unused on the typical fastback version.. If so any ideas as to a reproduction part being sold??

God I love this site. The Shelby knowledge is vast and inspiring!

The early style (slot for a carriage bolt) spare tire bracket
was welded to the back hump on the car and the tray had
    an opening made for it.

    Bob,
A question for you related to this:
Did Shelby originally put any Sealer Tape when mounting the tray?
The parts book seems to indicate it. If true, can you suggest
what to use and how much and where on the bottom and backside of the panel.
    Thanks,
    /Bo

I am refering to a correct 65 style hold down brkt. You are refering to a 66 Shelby style hold down brkt. The 65 style hold down is a slot brkt that the hold down bolt (which is a long carrage bolt) slids into. The brkt is welded into the metal floor under were the tire sits on the tray and the bolt is put in and taken out through a hole cut into the tray for that purpose. I hope this helps.

Bo, no sealer tape that I have ever been able to atribute to original . They justed rattled. I asked another 65 shelby judge John Brown and he concured. John reminded me of the fact that some of the later 65 Shelby's had a small piece of thin rubber in the shape of a ring that was laid on the floor around the hold down brkt between the tray and the floor to prevent rattles.

    Thanks Bob,
You saved me some work. I traded for an original panel last year
and it rattles much more than the repo did I had earlier.
Thought that a tape sealer was used after finding it listed in
the 1965 Shelby Parts book on pages 69 and 70 and in three different
places with three different part numbers:
S1MS-40300-A, Panel Rear Compartm. Vendor: Cal Auto
S1MS-40301-A, Tape, Sealer Rear Panel per Foot, No vendor mentioned.
S1MS-0940300, Panel Rear Compartm. Vendor: Cal Auto
S1MS-0940301-A, no mention of per foot. Vendor: Aero
S1MS-6540300, Panel Rear Compartm. Vendor: Cal Auto
S1MS-6540301-A, no mention of per foot. Vendor: Aeroquip
Prices are different which could be due to different dates on the respective pages.

Aeroquip supplied the oil lines and fittings for the oil pressure gauge and the oil cooler lines and fittings on the R model. I asume that Aero and Aeroquip are the same thing . I am not sure what item the S1MS # is refering to. I am sure someone will dig it up.
