I posted the following on the Club Cobra forum a few hours ago. The site is down right now. There may be someone here with some information on this.

"Just curious if anyone has heard any rumors of the existence of an unknown Cobra. Yesterday and today I’ve received emails from ‘car guy’ friends on the West coast that a newspaper reporter has written an article about a previously unknown Cobra. One rumor said it was an unknown Daytona Coupe. One guy mentioned the number CSX2590 but that number is not valid according to the Registry. Most likely it’s someone that has mistaken a replica for an original car.
Anyway, if anyone has heard anything about this car or the article post it here or send me a PM."
    Thanks.

Wow! a friend in the Northwest just sent me this. A seventh 289 Daytona Coupe exists.

Anyone have a connection at SCM for the story?

Jim, ClubCobra is back up. Here is the link to that thread:

I am trying to track down any info to validate what you are hearing. I'll post whatever I find on the CC thread.

I did find a Coupe with a different style hood, in a picture that was supposedly taken in 1966, well after the Coupes were retired.

That's what got me curious, too. All the coupes I have vintage pictures of, have the cut-out hood and side vent as well.

If it really IS the Seventh Son.......... to bad he missed the $AAC Registry Date............. now he will have to wait another 10 Years to get it in the Book.

Well, all I can say is......I hope it is real. I will believe it sometime next week (after April 1) if more info is posted.

Maybe I'm just overly skeptical with it being April 1st and all, but that picture of the coupe in the pit area over on CobraClub sure looks photoshopped in to me.

But the real source of my skeptiscism lies in the absence of a rear spoiler in the "1966" picture (note that it's there in the "pit" photo). If there were a 7th car, it would have been made in Italy, after the controversy over the spoiler had settled (Brock didn't want it). That leads me to believe that the "1966" picture is of CSX2287 during early testing before the spoiler (and possibly hood opening) were finalized. Possibly comparing the slope of the windshield of the "1966" car to that of CSX2287 and the other 5 cars might suggest more strongly whether or not the "1966" picture is of CSX2287 or not. It's my understanding that the Italians didn't like the slope of the windshield so they corrected the "error" in the design without permission and that CSX2287 differs from the other 5 in that regard. Back on the spoiler for a second, if the argument for the "1966" photo being legitimately from 1966 were that the car for Brock was built without the spoiler, knowing that he didn't like it, how did it show up in the "pit" picture?

It sure would be cool if it is true, though. On the other hand, as far as gags go, this would be up there with Orson Welles (okay... not quite, but close within the world of Cobra fans).

The latest on CC is that this was a very well executed April Fools Day gag, by "computerworks" Ron. Well done! Really had some of us (me) going!

That was a very impressive gag, gentlemen. How many people were in on it??

Very fun... thanks for the laughs.

Fooled me but what about the one at the Shelby Museum?

I was fooled too, but would still like to know about the big block coupe
some saw in unfinished form at the Shelby Collection, mostly who funded it and why it was never finished. This is on a coil spring chassis, not the Super Coupe finished in Colorado and sold in Monterey last year.

I thought you asked this question last year?

You may want to start a separate thread if you want to continue the subject.;)
