This was a photo taken in 1967. I was looking through Google and found it. Was supposedly entered in Targa Florio race by Ford of France only having a little problem with heat. Anyone know anything else about it??
What a find! Love those vintage photos Now the fun starts by finding out what the real story behind the car and all the damage. I did notice some interesting things - looks like a car fire (not a very strong one), no side vents, remains of what appears to be a GT350 steel frame/fiberglass hood, LH hood pin on radiator support, what apprears to be the steel support for a 1966 padded dash, standard steering wheel, steel wheels, appears to be the remains of the small mustang GT rocker strips, no quarter panel side scoop or the hole for it (there is what appears to be a dark shadow from the weeds where the hole should be), dented roof (roll-over?) and it is surrounded by dry weeds that are NOT burnt. Anyone that has seen a car fire knows that the heat 20 feet away will melt paint and set every yard plant on fire. Can somene else take a close look too
I am thinking the shadow is the hole for the brake scoop. The weed stem makes it look like the shadow is part of the weed. No other weed tops to match the shadow on other weeds!!! Also noticed no front bumper that may indicate a fiberglass racing apron that probably melted as well. Side mirror still there. I agree that a fire of this size would have scorched the weeds as well. Being this was 67? was this car salvageable and maybe this photo may be a later photo taken from the time of the wreck. Allowing the weeds to regrow after being burned. So the wreck could have happened a year before or at least before the growing season. My CSI training is showing Huh!!! LOL
