That is a great project. I love seeing a Rampage saved. Thanks for the photos, and I'll be looking forward to further updates.

Just building my stock of parts right now. The engine is at the machine shop so should have some new pics pretty soon.

It appears to be although it is labeled wrong. There is no such thing as a Shelby Rampage. However there was a Direct Connection Rampage produced for the California market at the end of the '84 run. It used the styling cues of the Shelby Charger along with a 5 speed transaxle. There were no upgrades to the engine or suspension.

That article has my personal experience about those trucks:

After I wrote that I dug through all of my old pictures from our visit (I was a crewmember in one of the other support races for the Detroit Grand Prix) and I caught the corner of the truck in my picture. I think the one I saw was the "Parts chaser" at skunkworks referenced in the article as it had the "SHELBY" script on the side and the stripe did not go all the way to the rear. It would make sense that Patrick would use that as his pit support vehicle.

I've been told that the parts chaser was owned by Dodge and returned to them when it was no longer needed and is now MIA.

I like so many others on here love your project!!! Your honesty, sincerity and approach to sharing this project with everyone is a very fresh breath of air! It reminds me when there was a time when our cars could could be built, driven, shown, photographed without fear of someone knocking our pride and joy! Seems like today that all of the so called experts have to condemn others toys because it is not like theirs, or it doesnt cost as much as their toys! Keep the photos and build updates coming. DARE TO BE DIFFERENT Thanks DENNIS;)

Thanks for your comments Dennis. I have always tried to be open minded. I grew up in a Chevy family, owned Camaros and such. Tried some Fords and became a diehard Mopar fan about 20 years ago. When the import cars became popular I was happy. I don't care for most and especially riced up without any performance mods, but happy that kids once again were being passionate about fooling with cars. We should all just remember it's about the cars. Fords, Chevys, Mopars, Imports. It doesn't matter as long as it's cool.:) What's cool about the Shelby community is that since Mr Shelby worked with all of the big three we have a chance to be the most open and accepting group of car nutz around.

Got a call today from the machine shop, my engine should be ready next week. This is the best news in a while. It feels good to have some real forward movement on this project again, it's been off the road for 2 years.
