I just purchased a 3.73 ring and pinion set (brand new in the box) from a Ford dealer. It's made by Precision Gear. It was at the dealer's car show and it was show discounted to $125. It seems like a good deal, but I want to be sure of the quality before I have it installed. Any info you can give me will be appreciated. Thanks, Ken

I never used that brand of gear but, the FRPP gears that have a part number that end in an A are superior to the ones that end in a M. The M ones are made in Italy by Motive for Ford, the A ones are made by Visteon, are much better and less prone to whine and breakage. I will try to ask a few friends if any of them have used Precision Gear's before and get back to you.

I can't vouch for Motive, but most of the new Ford products have Visteon
ring and pinions and they are junk compared to older Sterling ring and pinions. Not problems with strength but whine.I've personally used older FRRP
and newer. The newer is lighter.Richmond makes a strong ring and pinion but
    small amount of whine.

I work for a Ford Racing dealer and as far as we can tell Ford Racing gears were never made by precision gear only visteon or motive.
