Hello all, I have a question about my grille. I have heard conflicting stories about the color of the Shelby grille for 1966. I have heard it is all semi-gloss black, or it is all flat black, and finally I have heard it is suppose to be semi-gloss with the leading edges of the cross bars being a bare shiny color. Can someone tell me what it really is suppose to be? I would greatly appreciate the help. Thanks for the help.
All I have ever seen is the semi black with bare bars. The 66 grille was anodized aluminum, and all but the front edge was blacked out. Some people paint them and sand the edges, but this destroys the anodizing.
You might get away with 0000, but it'd be a lot safer to use a solvent on a shop towel. No chance of damaging the aluminum then.
I guess I am getting pretty tired. I don't know why I didn't just think of wiping them down after painting them. Thanks again for the info. Now I can paint my grille with no worries.
