I Have 2 NOS fuel pumps. Both are the Carter X type with the filter. One has the fuel inlet on the left and the outlet on the right. The other is just the opposite. I need to rebuild one and the engine is still out of the car. Thanks!! Brian
It doens't sound ether one is correct for a 67 GT500 . Here is a picture of the correct one . The assemblyline pumps were marked CAR bura TER. Bob
Here are pictures of both. They are marked the same as yours. I also see "X" on yours. I know that the early cars did not have the filter attached. They used an inline filter. At least that is what's on the car in the January '67 Road and Track.
I think you need to compare the pictures again. The pumps are two completely different varieties and there is no X on the pictures I posted. The assemblyline pump is the sheet metal lower half with the distinctive button top . The ones you picture are a screw together cast lower half without the buttontop . That is for a earlier application I think . All of the 67 GT500 production cars early or late used the type I posted a picture of. Any of the pictures you reference (with the exception of the prototype GT500) car from historical magazines etc. will show the variety I posted . If a fuzzy or small picture, the button top is a give a way. The prototype car that you mention that has the inline filter was not a production GT500 and never even received a Shelby VIN number. Yep- don't blindly trust those magazine cars (old or new magazines) They'll get you in trouble from time to time
