How do I tell if my front springs are original? Stripes? Coil count. Diameter Etc.. The car has incorrect springs currently but I have what may be the originals in the attic.

The car sits too high in the front. The towers were drilled for lowering years ago but are now in the stock location because of fender rub when lowered.

Any recommended setups to get this thing down a bit in the front?

    Thank You.

A 67 Shelby had a unique wire size for the front coils. the ford part number is listed in the "add and delete" sheets that are found in some cars. That number doesn't appear in and of the MPC books that I have found. The stock configuration Mustang/Shelby would be the front sitting higher then the back. The ride hight specs are in the shop manual or the body assemblyline manual. Eaton spring (a OEM supplier) sells a 390/428 front coil which is the closest you will find to a genuine one . It is slightly smaller diameter. The two sizes are so close i can't tell the difference unless sitting them side by side. I hope this helps. Bob

I had the same problem on my 67 GT350. Those springs are long and stout. You could cut them but they are hard to find plus it would make them VERY stiff.

I bought a set of 550 lb. springs from Grab-a-Trak and then cut them to get the height I wanted. I tried the 620 lowering springs first and they dropped the fender down below the tops of the tires which was too low for me.
