Can someone tell me if the following assumption is correct? The '69 swing-away vacuum system has two variations. One type uses a single port vacuum reservoir together with a 3-port check valve. The other type uses a two port vacuum reservoir that has a built-in check valve. Do I have this right? If I have it right..... Is there a pattern to this? Perhaps dependant on with/without air condtioning or dependant on assembly plant? The subject car is a '69 GT500 with A/C. Thanks for any help. Cheers DD
I had a 68 shelby and the vacuum can had 2 hoses going to it. I could not find one with 2 ports on the can so i used a 1 port can and the valve off of a 69 shelby. The valve off the 69 shelby had one port on the back of it and 2 ports on the other side , I used that and my Swing -away worked. So i Think your vacuum can has one port on it.
Thanks for the reply. Hey, I was born in Elgin...53 years ago today! From further research and replies elsewhere I'm pretty well convinced that, as you say, a '69 should have the single port reservoir with a separate 3-port check valve. I was being thrown off-base by (what I believe to be) an incorrect car and some erroneous parts listings from various vendors. Thanks for the reply. Cheers DD
