When I purchased 6s081 in the late 80s, it came an incorrect 750 double pumper Holley on it. A few years later I found correct, rebuilt 3259 and purchased it. Unfortunately, it is a 581 date code and to be "correct" I should have something date coded a little earlier. Does anyone have an early '65 date coded 3259 that would be willing to trade for the one I have? I have never installed the one I have on my car, but have no reason to doubt it was rebuilt as it is very clean. I also have a later re-pop 3259-1 for trade towards one (+cash) if someone is not concerned with originality. The 3259-1 was run for a short time and then removed and put on the shelf. Thanks, Jay
Jay,I would also post under appeals on the SAAC forum. The 581 dated carb is very rare and valuable, unfortunately a earlier date for the 3259 is a little more so. I say this only because I would hate to see you miss any opportunities because of a little difference in value. The best of luck with your search. Bob
Thanks for the insight Bob. I did not realize the earlier ones were even tougher to find than the 581. I'll keep that in mind in case one does surface. I pulled the 3259 out today since I had not looked at it in a few years, and it was not exactly as I remembered it. The choke plate is missing (choke rod is in place) and the bore shows some discoloration so I would classify it as a good condition used instead of rebuilt.
