I have a 69 GT500 actual build date 1/17/69 per Marti report. I have 3 questions after looking over many posts, what is the correct color of the shocks (not Koni) , 2nd, what color is the undercarriage? I've looked at several and seen both body color and dark almost purple. 3rd, is there any good refrence for painting body and what parts were installed before paint and which parts were installed after?
Jeff Speegle did a wonderful dissertation while painting a 69 GT350 convertible Start here http://www.concoursmustang.com/forum/index.php?board=24.0 Bill S.
I guess I should specify, car is a convertible in Gulfstream Aqua withgold stripes. Also, what is Batch paint?
Batch paint is primer with what ever other paint Ford had left over mixed in. There is no specific color or match, it varied from day to day. Your car is your best resource.
If you are not sure of my post I was confirming the information in Petes post (+1 is a common Internet shorthand) on the color of white shocks for 69 GT350/500 after approximately mid March 1969 (from known examples) . The front shocks were all the same engineering number but there was a different number for rear shocks (still painted white with cobra snake decal) for all GT350's and GT500 auto compared to GT500 4 speed cars. The GT500 4 speed cars had a special shock with a different number designed for the 4speed staggered shock arrangement found only on those 69/70 Shelby's.
