Hey im 16 and have always been interested in 1969 gt500's. But seeing that they cost a ton of money i cant afford one and have no help from my parents. I was seeing if i could possibly use a regular 1969 mustang fastback and clone the outside to make it look like a real one! But i dont know if there are any major difficulties with switching out the fenders and hood etc.? I dont plan on doing anything with the engine/trans. Just mainley body work and interior stuff. I know it wont be a real gt500 but as long as it looks like one ill be happy! Let me know if anyone has tried this at all?
Figure on a nice rust free small block powered 69 fastback body $15,000 Parts to convert to a clone $15,000 Bodywork and paint $15,000 For that type of money you could find and buy an original 69/70 GT350 fastback in nice condition Save your money and buy an original Bill S.
I already have the 69 fastback thats in fair condition that i got for 3k with a big block in it, i found a website with the body panels for a 69 gt350/500 for all around 3k. I was just seeing if i would be able to put the body panels on the 69 fastback without it looking weird? Because i dont know if they are the same size???
yes the panels would fit but its never that easy. none of the aftermarket fiberglass just "bolts on" and unless you are experienced working with fiberglass/bodywork you will probably end up sending out for fitting
