I had a couple of hones back in the 80"s-I bought out what was left of parts when mr. settleman folded the company- theres not alot in overhauling. it's just parts is the big question- the center shaft is a tough one to get- the hones are good- but can't take the high horsepower.

I had a friend who still has his hone in his 67 shelby- I gave him a lot of parts and manuals when i got out of my hones .as for leaking most of the seals are easy to get mostly ford 9" stuff. is your unit that is bolted directly to the 9"?- you can safely splt the alum halfs to inspec without to much trouble or pull the pinion from the carrier is the nomal way and work on it on a bench. It's not bolted directly to 9". It's universal type hone. Is it possible to convert it to bolted type?

I'm going to install the universal type hone-o-drive model 300 into my car. Should I mount it directly behind transmission or directly infront of the differential?

You will need to mount it to the floor - mid way (and there is not allot of room) since you need to consider the angle of both the front and rear driveline and the moment of the rearend during driving

Don't recall ever seeing a 300 on a Mustang so can't offer any tips

Have one of the Ford versions on a 66 but have not driven it much at all (read less than 1 mile ;)

Thank you for your advice. As you said if I maunt it to the floor, there is no enough space for it. so I was thinking to maunt it infront of the differencial flange like ford model and use only one driveline to connet it to the C4 tranny. Do you see any problem ?

Not sure how you would "mount it" in front of the rear end yoke with out a short driveline. You would have to build a support mount from the third member (allot of weight and torque hanging in front of that thing) and mounted there it will hit the driveline tunnel unless you raise the car up a bunch.

    Not the greatest scan

got you e-mail- your going to have a lot of clearence problems with that model 300- even with the ford(200) model was able to hit the tunnel sometimes with the diff going up and down. I sold all my hone stuff to a shelby rep that was is moragn hill area of san jose area- I still have his card? Bryan

If this was many years ago - I think I saw all the parts sitting on a shelf when I was in the shop looking at a 66 Trans Am coupe one day

    Hi again,
I would like to share some pictures of my hone-o-drive project, which I try to connect it directly behind of the C4 tranny and shortened driveshaft connected to 8" differential. My driveshaft length is now 35". I had no clearance problem. It's not finished but try to find best way how to fix it to the body to avoid vibration problems. Any idea appreciated.

    Hi again,
I finished the installation of the Hone-o-drive and testdrive was fantastic, no vibration occured. I test it on the highway with max. speed 100 mph. I would like to share now some pictures of my installation.
