I have been an ardent fan of Carroll Shelby since reading an article in HotRod back in the late 1970's about the 427 Cobra (yes the one about the 0-100-0 record). Always been a bit of a petrolhead, and have worked on various early Mustangs over the years (65, 67 and 69). Currently living and working overseas, but have a home back in NorCal. Looking to either buy a clone, build a clone, or resto a 1966 GT350. Was born in 1965, so it only makes sense to go for what was (in my opinion) the pinnacle of early Shelby's for the street. Unlike some folks out there, I am looking to have a car to drive on the weekends, etc, not a museum piece to turn a profit on or win a concours. Have owned many nice "driver" cars over the years including a 1970 SS396 Chevelle (first car!), 1972 240Z with a 250hp motor, 1988 GSXR750 Suzuki racebike(hometrack was Sears Point), 1997 EuroSpec M3, and a 2001 Audi RS4 Avant (fastest production wagon ever built) . Thus for me the driving experience is all part of life. Looking forward to the forum, and contributing where I can. Ciao, Steve
Welcome to the site. I am lucky enough to have a 1966 GT350 to drive around on the weekends. I hope you get one (real or clone) for yourself to enjoy. RS
Thanks RS, Encouraging to see that some people are not just passionate about their GT350's, but they also DRIVE them. Steve
