On my 67 gt-500, when I release the brake pedal the brakes stick for about one second. The booster is only a few years old. I removed the master cylinder and adjusted the push rod per the service manual. Put all back together, does the same thing. I disconnected the vacum line to the booster and found out that brakes release in right away. Could it be the master cyl or does it still sound like it's out of adjustment? I'm using dot 5 fluid.
    Thanks

Did you fully flush your system before going with Dot 5??

    Hi,
To me it sounds like the booster valve.

Check the inside of the hose from the intake to brake booster valve . they break down from the inside.

Though not very old, your booster is going bad. This is a common mode of failure. In 34 years I've had 5 on my KR...and the one on it right now is going bad exactly as you describe.

Thanks, I think your right. I changed the master cylinder. No help. Is there anywhere to purchase a new booster that doesn't come with the master cylinder? Mine is brand new and it's the first one that doesn't almost hit the valve cover.

Yes, most of the major retailers sell these "unloaded"...meaning without the master cylinder. You could also have yours rebuilt...check Hemmings for "Booster Dewey"...just one of several who advertise this service for about $100.
