wondering if someone could help me with stripe dimentions and also code color for the white stripes on a 67 gt 500 help will be appreciated thanxs
FYI no 67/68 Shelby came from factory with Lemans stripes. Here is a link (courtesy NVSAAC) that shows dimensions. Paint codes are on bottom of page. Tim http://nvsaac.com/Details/shelby_detail_main.htm
The dimensions are in a Tony D Branda catalog. But, nothing says "I've built a clone" more than added LeMans stripes to a 67 where not 1 left the factory with them...
I typically have several people ever year tell me my car isn't real or original because it doesnt have Lemans stripes. I once won a bet with a guy who said "No 67/68 Shelby ever came from the factory with hood stripes" . I said he was wrong and showed him the proof. He claimed "I meant Lemans stripes".
Hi, I think that dealer installed Le Mans stripes on a 67 were 10" wide with 2" between the stripes. Don't think that they tapered them like in 65/66. My 67 has them painted this way and it looks great. Texas Swede
I painted afew leMans strips on 67's. I used the Branda dimentions except for the hood. Where you will have to narrow the strips on the front of the hood to make it look right on the hood scoop.
I bought mine from the original owner and the car never came from the factory with them so he had the dealer put them on before he picked up the car. They used the 65 specs. Each dealer did it the way they wanted to so what is "right" for one car might to be right for another.
Roddster, I couldn't disagree with you more. A lot of Accessories are put on a car at the dealer. That is how the manufacturer keeps costs down. Have you purchased a car recently and seen all of the things you can add BEFORE you take title of the car, e.g. mud flaps, spoilers, etc. I have a B&W picture of my Shelby the day it was picked up from the dealer in January 1967 and it had Lemans Stripes on it. I did the paint myself on my restoration and I found the paint code for the white stripes was too bright a white for my taste. I used ford wimbleton white and found it to a be much warmer white. If you're using a 2 stage system they'll look great under the clear coat.
Re: Paint Stripping PLEASE someone help me with the dimensions and color code number for the (blue) LeMans stripes for a 1967 GT350 (the car color is Wimbledon white ) This information urges me be cause I want to leave the stripes space untouched. Thanks, Javier
Re: Paint Stripping The Le Mans stripe dimensions, as well as paint codes,B) can be found in the '97 Shelby American World Registry ( you do have one don't you? ) pgs. 1280 thru 1286.B)
