Sorry for the RANT but I just can't help myself.... C&A Stangs your quote is exactly why FORD laid off 30,000 employees and is losing market share and brand loyalty everyday. And from another forum board, will be shutting down SVT all together http://www.fordgt500.com/. Over Charging and under delivering when it comes to products and quality customer service.

Many people will be getting these cars for List Price, Because there are still hundreds of FORD dealerships that don't subscribe to your way of thinking. Thank God for that !!!! And even the dealerships that are trying to get 10K - 15k over MSRP to have the first one on the block will be selling them at list price by next year. Or they will be collecting dust in your showroom. Thanks for trying to scare me into buying the 07 Shelby GT500 at your dealership for 50k to 55K.... LOL

Just in case the Link didn't work here is some news about SVT:
Inside Line has the skinny on something that will bring tears to the eyes of many a high-performance enthusiast... the end of SVT as we know it is close at hand. Stephen Cole Smith of Inside Line predicted such a fate for Ford's in-house skunkworks, and on on April 1, 2006 he'll be proven right.

According to Cole, as of this moment SVT's PR/marketing staff, engineering staff, dealer network, press fleet and events trailer (all exclusively dedicated to the division) have been dismantled. The 2007 Shelby Cobra-badged Mustang will be the last vehicle to be developed, start to finish, by the SVT program. If anything, Cole says, we might get a vehicle with an SVT-tuned suspension. Maybe.

    RIP SVT

    Amen brother Slick.

Same thing with the Ford GT. You'll never be able to get one for under 200K. Unfortunaltely, some people believed that and loss 100 Big Ones!!!!

After waiting for almost a year on 'the list' (3rd in line), I found out that the dealer has been notified of their allocation and will be getting $25K over MSRP, mostly due to some deep pocket in Eastern Colorado that offered 25 over to buy his way onto the list. It's the one thing Carroll Shelby was afraid of happening. Well it's happening. It seems the Snakebite bulleting from SAAC had an article in it about Mr. Shelby trying to get a few dealers to handle the sales of the 07, in anticipation of this very thing happening. Ford is letting the dealers rape the public with their greed, and as owner of 8 Mustangs, including a 68 Shelby GT500, it almost makes us want to liquidate and go to Mopars.

Would that be a bad thing?

I work at a Ford dealership and the first few Shelbys that come in will be priced way over sticker because there is such a thing as greed and Ford does not control what a dealer can make from the willing public.

It would take people who have the ability to pay over sticker to just sit back and refuse, but we all know that will not happen.

Just wait for the first year to run and let everyone with big bucks spend their money and work the bugs out of first production run problems and then next year go and buy one for sticker or maybe less. Seen this happen on every SVT model that has come out so far...and don't worry about Ford limiting production. They are in the business of making money so if they spend money developing something and it sells, you bet they will continue to produce it. Just good business.

    My TWO cents,

I have been an original owner, back in the 70's, of a 64 1/2 170 ci and a beautiful 65 GT coupe. I have loved these cars ever since.

I just recently got back in the game with an "Almost" completely accurate 66 GT350 H re-creation. Unfortunatly, unable to afford the "Real" thing, I took the route of the classic because the Ford dealers will be adding, in my market, up to $20K to every 07' GT 500 order. THIS IS SINFUL! I chose appreciation over depreciation.

The new GT500 is an awesome vehicle and I hope all that order and get one are indeed very very happy. Maybe someday it will become a classic just like the orginals.

FORD produces the best product in the market!

And that is my .02 cents.

Thanks to everyone that has helped me with information on my car, you guys are great! :D

I got mine for $2K over MSRP. It's a very small dealer that will probably get just one. The $2K is to cover his certification costs. I thought that was reasonable.

    $40,930.00 + $1,300.00 GGTax + $745.00 D&D + $2,000.00 = $44,975.00
