This might sound like a lame question, but...

Can anyone direct me to the correct turn signal flasher unit for a '67 GT350? What is the correct part number? Where can I get one?

Also, where is is located on the car - I can't find it. The turn signals on my car flash too fast and since the car has been in England since '73 I suspect the flasher unit has been replaced with something from a different car.

    Thanks

The flasher "top hat" is under the dash near the radio (more towards the passanger side) of the underdash unit. Call or e mail Jim Cowles at Shelby Parts (920) 434 3645 (www.shelbyparts.com) and he cannot only give you the correct part number but he will sell you a flasher unit, as well. I do not think 1967 flasher units were shelby unique as there was no sequential blinkers, for the shelby, until 1968. Those units (1968 - 1970) required special flasher "top hats".

    Good luck!

Thanks for the info - I have just spent about 40 minutes on my back under the dash with a torch and I still can't find it. I can hear it (it doesn't sound right - lots of buzzing and fluttering) but I can't tell where the sound coming from. I'll have another go when the rain stops! (hey, this is England - what do you expect!)

On another subject, my temp gauge doesn't work. I have put a volt meter on the wire that connects to the sender unit on the manifold, and it shows a pulsing voltage (not a steady 12v). Is this right?

After 15 years of dry storage, I'm surprised the electrics are as good as they are!

If you can hear it at all you are in luck! Take a 2 foot long piece of flexible hose. Garden hose or fuel line work great. Put one end up against your ear and move the other end around under the dash. It is a very good locator. You will find it in 10 seconds.

    good luck

    Hi,
As regards your problem with the temp gauge, it's operated
by 5V. Then you ask, how do I get the 5V. Answer, by a
constant voltage relay which converts the 12V input to a pulsing
5V output. You said you had a pulsing voltage at the outlet and
it should pulse between 0-5V. Test the temp gauge by grounding the
connector at the engine, i.e. remove it from the temp sending unit and ground
it. If the temp shows max, you know the instrument is okay and you
need a new sending unit. If the gauge doesn't show anything the
gauge is probably faulty. In the latter case the sending unit can be either
    okay or faulty.
    Good luck,
    Texas Swede

When i had my 68 Shelby GT500 my flasher went out i bought a h/d flasher and pulled the cover off and adjusted the points in it till i got the lights to flash the right way. The flashers that came on the cars were design for 6 bulbs.
