69-70 GT500 rotors

    Hello everyone.

    The rotors for the 69-70 GT500s seam to be unique, or perhaps
    it is just my 70 GT 500 that is unusual, but anyway my story.

    I had purchased a couple of new rotors that the parts company
    guranteed would fit. They didn't. I couldn't seat the bearing properly,
    it wouldn't go deep enough, and naturally enough it wouldn't take
    take the seal. Back to the parts store and rummaging through the
    parts manuals we just could not find a rotor to fit. All the entries say
    something like "68-69 all except BOSS" and point back to the same
    rotors I had in the first place. I'm guessing I need the "BOSS" part
    which is N/A. Same for 69 Mach I - N/A.

    Does any one know the original ford part numbers for the rotors?
    Hopefully I can cross match the numbers and find a source.
    Or perhaps some one has already replaced a set and has part
    numbers from a manufacturer.

    Any info anyone has on these rotors would be greatly appreciated.

    Those rotors are the same as a Boss. Do you have your old hubs? I was told 71 cougar disc brake rotors are the same, you could press them on to your hubs. I also heard that National parts depot is now offering the Boss rotors.

    The 69/70 Shelby had the same spindles as 69 Boss 302. However your 70 is a retitled 69 so it would have the 69 spindles. Heres from memory (at my age thats scary and I could be totally wrong), I believe 69 Boss (Shelby) spindles are the same as 70 spindles from any V8 Mustang. If this is true you would just need standard 70 V8 rotors.

    I should have been clearer in my previous post. The rotors I
    bought are a unified part bonding the rotor and hub together.
    I keep forgetting that they are actually two pieces and I tend
    to refer to them as juust a rotor. I'm having a problem with the
    hub on the new part. The actual rotor piece is the right size
    and matches up just fine.

    After talking to a few people and reading your posts I basically
    have two options.

    I can do as suggested and uncouple my hubs, buy a new set
    and uncouple them and then bond my old hubs to the new rotors.
    A Tough job even if you have the right tools.

    Or I can buy a new set and have them machined to accept
    the heavier bearings.

    I'm not sure if either method has an advantage, I suspect
    that the uncoupling method might be a less expensive though
    a lot more work.

    Thanks for your suggestions. I'm still going to see if I can't buy
    a set. Somebody' has got to be manufacturing/selling them.

    This is the 2 peice I was talking about. If you have your hubs you can buy a rotor and change them over. I sould have been more clear. Good luck.

    Hello again.

    Well I bought a new set of the unified hub & rotor pieces and
    I am having them machined to accept the proper bearings.

    I chose this option because it still leaves me with the original
    set intact. I can use them later if need be or let them go with
    the car if I ever decide to ..... naw, never mind, I don't know

    way to getting the machine back on its feet.
