Just wondering what (if any) other cars you guys are interested in. I personally have always had a soft spot for the El Camino (no idea why), as well as a recently developing intrest in Lotus and, as much as I hate to admit it, WRXs, Mintsubishi Lancer Evolutions, and the WRC Focus Rally cars. jim
Vipers, Shelby Series 1, Cobras, all the Shelby.... Mustangs, the Ford GT, and a 1966 Failane GT (my first car).
Re: Other Cars I have always liked the el Camino's too. I have had a 1960 and two 1968 models. It is all the truck I have ever needed. I have had Chevelles also that were very enjoyable. I also like the turbo Buicks especially the T-Type. I prefer it over the Grand National because it was available in colors other than black. The only new car I really like is the Cadillac CTS-V. When the Shelby Mustangs are released, that is likely to change. robin
Re: Other Cars Hi Nice thread. I love the 1933 Ford Hot Rod of my dad. Three window Coupe steal body. And the 1991 Porsche 964 911 C2 of my buddy is a really nice and fast car. Bye Jerry
Re: Other Cars I've always loved any year Mercury Cyclone (made from 64-71). Even at an event as big as the Woodward Cruise there are only a few to show up, while dozens of Shelby's are in attendance.
Re: Other Cars Ford Rancharo all Years. 1957 to 1959 Ford Panel Wagon and even the Pinto Cruisen Wagons.....LOL
Re: Other Cars My good friend back in high school was given a 1970 AMC Rebel (The Machine). I had never seen one prior but I just loved the look of that car for some reason. It was white w/blue & red stripes, 390 engine w/4-speed....Pretty cool cruiser back in high school. Now 24 years later...I wouldn't mind finding one but my Ford buddies would probably banish me from cruise nights!!!!! David
Re: Other Cars i know what you mean by being banished.......my GT350 pretty much only sees nice fine days now but i do have a '78 Cobra II for mustang club runs, Grasskanas, etc... ive always liked them (i don't know why) but it's amazing how many people have said to me "What did you BUY that for !!"....i'm almost a leper in my own mustang club.....I believe it was imported to NZ in '78 by a United States serviceman who was doing a tour of duty to the Antarctic (the Starlifters are based in Christchurch over the summer) - i know this is a Shelby forum but what's the consenus?? They sold heaps of them but not too many around now .This is it next to a '67 GT350 at our Grasskana.
Re: Other Cars Mustangs and Shelby's are my hands down favorite. I do appreciate other muscle cars though. Here is a list of cars that I have either owned or would like to own, other than Mustangs and Shelby's: 1970-71 'Cuda 1968 GTO 1965 GTO 1968 Firebird 1977-79 Bandit Trans-Am 1996-2001 Viper GTS Coupe 1973-74 Trans Am Super Duty 455 1969 Trans Am 1970 Challenger T/A 1970 AAR 'Cuda 1963-67 Corvette Coupe 1969 Yenko Camaro B)
66shelbynz, that car is full out weird looking. I am not familiar with the Cobra II, but that thing is just odd. But that is what its all about isn't it. Would any of us be interested in our cars if the looked like Hondas? No! We buy them because they are loud and get looks when we drive down the street. And that car gets a lot more looks than the "normal" mustangs you cruise with I'll bet. jim o, and commish, is it a '64 vette?
very true Jim - very boring ol' world if all the cars looked the same. Here was my daily driver (till a little while ago) a Ford Falcon XR8 (5.4 liter quad cam v8) the colour is Blood Orange - the ol' out there colours are really coming back in these days. Our gas price is nz$1.70 per liter - translates to about $5.50 us dollars a gallon.
You guys have, and I am assuming have had, a V8 Falcon? And we JUST got a V8 "family" car again (Impala SS). Why do US companies give the nice cars to other people? jim
