I work at a hot rod shop where we are restoring a 69 shelby cobra for a customer. We have the original wheels but are looking for a reproduction set as well. The wheels he has would be fine for show but we arent sure if they are still in good enough condition to drive the car in the manner that the owner would like. Does anyone know of any sites or companies that have remanufactured wheels?
A suggestion: have him buy a set of repop correct tires for the original wheels and use them at shows (actually for concours events, otherwise most judges won't know correct if the ate it for breakfast) And have the new wheels with some kind of excellent autocross tires for road trips, track time, dragging, cruising.
Hi Dan: Specality Wheels in Portland Oregon make a great set of rims for the 69-70 Shelby. I have three sets:1 Original, not being used and 2 sets from Specialty Wheels Ltd. Or you can call Rose City Mustang and they can get them for you. Look in photos section of my car for 70Shelby2254, it will show the rims. Good luck on the restore. PS: The tire pressure sticker does go in the glove box. Randy
