    Hello,
I am doing a little cosmetic work to my car. With the interior out,
I want to touch up/refinish a few areas before I put my interior back in.
What is the best way to remove the paint from the metal dashboard?
Also, removing the rust from the "A" pillar and inside of roof?

    Thanks.

    Rudy:)

On full restos, we sandblast everything, but for touch up, I guess good old fashioned fine grit sand paper would do the trick. Suggestion for painting, we use SEM brand spray paint, it's expensive, but the results are fantastic. I use their self etching primer, and they have a satin black that's perfect for the interiors of our 65/66 clones we do.

Do not sand blast the roof as it will warp.

If its all factory paint (not krylon) I used to spray "Mr. Muscle" oven cliener on it and then put on gloves and wipe the paint off with a damp rag. By the way, that's the only brand I found that worked. It will strip factory paint off the inside of doors as well (steel wool cleans things up good). Aparently as well as oven cleaner its a light duty paint remover. That factory paint is laquer and it doesn't take much to get it off.

    Good Luck...

I get it at the grocery store. I assume they still make it. If not, try some others.
