Hey, folks---is this REALLY from some function at carmemories.com, or is it an attempt to "fish" me into asking for a virus or worm, or something bad like that, from some a**hole PRETENDING to be a function of carmemories.com? Dave
Re: ezmlm warning Dave- As far as I'm concerned, it's called "phishing"...Delete it and fuggetaboutit. Re: ezmlm warning Dave: Believe me, it is a real warning from carmemories. I have had several of these and when I got real upset about one I received, they cut me off and I had to sign up again. I usually send mine to Dennis Begley dbegley (AT) carmemories (DOT) com and without the caustic comments that got me cut off before. Welcome to the club. Re: ezmlm warning Hi guys I am still out here. Don't send email to dennis (AT) carmemories (DOT) com. It was spammed out of existence. Getting 10,000 email a day overwhelmed the system. This email is from one of my business accts, dennis (AT) urimn (DOT) com. What the ezmlm warning is about concerns the system sending an email out to the email address that you have signed up on the list. That email bounced back from your internet email provider. When that happens several times, 2 or 3, the software ezmlm that runs the list assumes that your email address is not valid. Or in some cases, an email from the list or two bounced back then an email goes through, ezmlm registers that then lets you know you did not receive specific emails from the list. It is a legitimate response from the software that manages the list. It is not a problem on this end. The issue is from your email providers end. Honestly, I would like to change the software and server that services the list. I have a new server different than the one that hosts CarMemories.com. The only issue from your end is the domain name would change from CarMemories.com to one of my other domains. I would probably use TheCarSource.com. There are some distinct advantages to doing that, one being the software and services available to you as a member and me as administrator. Do any of you out there have any comments or questions on doing that? I could put up a web page showing the advantages and why I would like to do that if that would help. Re: ezmlm warning Dennis: I really don't mind by what name the list is called as long as it continues. It is a great list and you are to be commended for starting and maintaining it. The knowledge of the listers is absolutely phenominal and we all gain by it.
