good morning america! greeting to all who love cobras and shelbys and the noise that comes with it! some of you may know me, although the last time I visited an event in person was Vegas 2000, and before that the convention in Atlanta (1995?). I do build a chassis from using the Cobra Restorers blueprints, which is time consuming, but the first one should be painted any minute, ready to be trucked to my assemmbly "site". It's not per KMP standards, but maybe soon ;-) I started this project end of 2002, pretty much the same time when Shelby was here and later I bought 9 bodies of leftovers from CAV's supplier, when they shut down in cape town end of 2003. all my brackets are laser cut, from the details shown in the CR prints. some brackets (i.e. rear LCA channel) are not really good, which I modified. I will use a 460, which may prove to be a mistake, because it is wider and higher. let's see how it goes with the chassis. dominik - excuse my english, I am german (germ)
Dominik, It sounds like a great project. Keep us informed on your progress. By the way, you English is better than most of the people who live here. Conrad
Thanks pics will follow, once I see some progress. pictures have been posted, but new one I leave here. 33k dial-up rules... dominik
HEY FROM NEW ORLEANS: JUST JOINED THE CLUB AND I SAW THE SOUTH AFRICAN POST SO I JUST HAD TO WRITE BACK. WHEN I WAS IN CAPE TOWN WITH MY WIFE VISITING HER FAMILY WE WERE RIDING THROUGH THE HILLS SOMEWHERE AROUND NEWLANDS AND I HEARD A ROAR OF A BIG BLOCK COMING UP THE OTHER SIDE OF THE HILL, I QUICKLY TOLD MY WIFE THAT SOUNDS LIKE A COBRA, SURE ENOUGH IF MY MEMORY SERVES ME CORRECT IT WAS A BLUE AND WHITE STRIPE OR PURPLE AND WHITE STRIPE COBRA. SURE MADE ME FEEL GOOD TO SEE ONE OF THOSE BABIES DOWN THERE. MAYBE WHEN WE HEAD BACK DOWN THERE AGAIN WE CAN SAY HELLO. JIM
good morning Jim, all the best for 2006! anytime, let me know when you are here in cape town. as for the progress of my car(s), it appears to me that I haven't been in the workshop since months... I am not really happy with the timeline, but looking forward to see some decent results end of february. the body is on, the drivetrain mounted and I can roll it up and down. some brackets for the pedals are needed to get the brakes to work, and a wiring loom should go in soon. my camera got stolen in Germany, so I cannot post any new pics. this one is from last august or so. the last time I drove a Cobra here was nov 2002, winning the drag race with my Contemporary (12.36s) and feb 2003 with a LDS Cobra, coming second at the Piper Weekend behind John Atkins' 289. cheers, dominik
