    The Shelby Mustang Email List
    =================================
    Dear Mr. Ford,
    The Camaro is gone, the Cuda is gone, the Challenger is gone, the AMC’s are gone as are all the original pony cars except the MUSTANG. Why do y’all think that is? Because a whole bunch of loyal Mustangers are out there in their old Mustangs, gobbling up the new Mustangs and spending MILLIONS of dollars on all these cars. A whole industry is dedicated to our Mustangs. We enthusiastically spread the word and bring thousands of new Mustangers into the fold each year. We would not allow Ford to turn our beloved cars into a front wheel drive pseudo pony cars and look what happened to the Probe. Now Ford is suing Mustang vendors to take the word Mustang out of their names, ads and products. We already pay licensing fees and this is fair. Many are small businesses that we rely on for products and services. They will be forced out of business because they cannot afford such a major change. Large Mustang business cannot afford to fight Ford and are caving in to the pressure. This will lead to shortages and increases in prices. What makes Ford think anyone would confuse a vintage Mustang store with their corporate hugeness? Ford does not offer information, service or many parts for the early Mustangs. Why force the vendors that do out of business? What is really behind this massive assault on an entire hobby? Do you really think I will rush out and buy a new Ford because I cannot keep my beloved Mustang in it’s pristine condition? Do you think air quality will improve dramatically if the old Mustangs are crushed? Wrong! We just got back from the Toyota store with a new RAV 4. It was going to be a Five Hundred but every time I talked to a Mustang vendor I became extremely upset with what Ford is doing and could not bring myself to buy a new one. I refuse to be pressured into giving up a lifestyle that started with a new Mustang in 1964. Ford needs to think about all the new Mustangs, family cars, tow vehicles and work trucks we buy and how many thousands of new Ford owners we have converted from other brands. I will probably buy another new car in a year or so (seems to be my average) and I hope Ford will give up this foolishness and I will only have one non-Ford in my inventory.
