Several suspect eBay Shelby Postings

    So, do these look all a bit suspect or what??!!! :mad:

    Gee, just $5,800 buy it now for a 68 GT500 Convertible - Item# 4653042367

    ...or a 70 Boss 302 - Item# 4653040730

    ...or perhaps a 69 GT350 - Item# 4653041972

    Love the shill $250,100 bid on the 69, and the $750,000 retracted bid from the same user on the 68. :noway:

    Looks to be a few stolen eBay accounts and pics to me, and someone trying to turn a fast buck via an instant transfer...otherwise, these would be three deals of a lifetime at near to their original sticker.

    Anyone recognise the pictures? Thoughts on notifying eBay?

    Steve I couldnt believe it either ...however I am the one negotiating The positive issue here is that the E bayer is a power seller with a good rep and the transaction will go thru Ebay VPP - they will deliver the car to me from outside Tampa in Fla within 4 days - if it isnt excatly as described (I got the VIN - that appears correct also) I return it and no $'s go to seller as its held buy VPP's agent - I was very suspect also it could be as descibed though

    you can e-mail these to ebay. they take them off quickly.

    They did exactly that ..it was pulled 10 minutes later ..now my question as it appears that the first seller c/b legit .. it still seems way to cheap ..however posting moneygram is a big no no pay method per Ebay BUT what about if its going to a specified E BAY Veh Purchase Protection Agent? Its Not going to the seller until I receive the car and OK item purchase is same as advertised

    How can you really tell?? There is a guy I know that is heavy into Rods and recently owned an original Cobra. He says he is aware of at least one Shelby Mustang out there that had all of the Shelby Stuff moved from a crashed car to another as was sold as legit back in the day. How much of that really goes on??

    Yeah but this one is that the car never "existed" It bounced from being in Florida to Connecticut -when ebay was made aware of the exact same ad using anothers persons address but same e mail the ad was pulled right off
    The moral was to see it (or have it inspected) and follow EBays rules to NEVER pay with Western Union or Moneygram NO MATTER WHAT!

    Hi Bob and All,

    I too looked at the seller and their history, then started to do some cross-references of what they had been selling...and the current postings looked very suspect. It would also appear that they either have others helping in these scams, or are holding several eBay accounts for shill-bids. This is one of the powers of eBay is that users can help keep the system clean.

    Living overseas at the moment, eBay is a venue on keeping tabs on Shelby's for sale back in the states, but "cavaet emptor" or buyer beware. There are plenty of scammers looking to fleece some sheep, and too many overpriced cars not meeting reserve.

    One of these days perhaps the right 66 will come down the pike. :laf: Till then I will keep driving my Turbo-Euro-Box.
