Shelby Mustang Email List ------------------------------ One more question that occurred to me as I was tweaking the list. This list was set up for owners of Shelby Mustangs built from 1965-1970. As we all know there are some re-issue Mustangs that have Shelby serial numbers. How do you feel about those cars being viewed as Shelby Mustangs? Would you welcome them as members of this list? Or do we restrict it to conversations on the "real" Shelby Mustangs built before 1970? By the way, Does anyone own one of those new GT350Rs? How about one of those Dallas Mustang TransAm re-issues? Anybody buy an Eleanor? I would like to do an article/web page with information about what these cars are with lots of good pics. Re: [Shelbymustang] Are the new re-issue Shelby Mustangs welcomedto our list? Shelby Mustang Email List ------------------------------ You asked "> Would you welcome them as members of this list? Or do we restrict it > to conversations on the "real" Shelby Mustangs built before 1970? I believe that the two have little in common relating to the general conversations we have here. Values of the real Shelby, what is original and not and subjects like this tend to be the mainstay for this list so far. If I want to be on a modified Mustang list or forum there are plenty of them I could participate with/on. Of course it will be the groups choice and there may be those that stay, those that join and those that go. "> How do you feel about those cars being viewed as Shelby Mustangs?" They are not Shelbys to me ... just a group of cars who's builders paid money to get the Shelby ok. Not happy at all with SAAC including them in the registry in my mind they are just another form of resto-mod. Might as well include the Shelby Dodges and the California Specials ..... they seem to have more to do with CS than these cars As always (just being honest) just one opinion Jeff S ----- Original Message ----- From: "Dennis" <dennis (AT) ultimate-restoration-inc (DOT) com> To: <shelbymustang (AT) thecarsource (DOT) com> Sent: Thursday, June 29, 2006 7:26 PM Subject: [Shelbymustang] Are the new re-issue Shelby Mustangs welcomed to our list? > Shelby Mustang Email List > ------------------------------ > One more question that occurred to me as I was tweaking the list. > This list was set up for owners of Shelby Mustangs built from > 1965-1970. Re: [Shelbymustang] Are the new re-issue Shelby Mustangs welcomedto our list? Shelby Mustang Email List ------------------------------ I agree with Jeff also. Just because CS is only money hungry these days doesn't mean we have to these later model restomods, which would tend to only give them greater exposure. Re: [Shelbymustang] Are the new re-issue Shelby Mustangs welcomedtoour list? Shelby Mustang Email List ------------------------------ Dennis: In a word, "NO". In my mind they are not Shelbys. This is not to say the "other Shelbys" are not attractive, that doesn't make them Shelbys just because 'ol Shel got megabucks to stick his name on them. Just my opinion. "Keepin' it real" should be our motto. Clones, "wanna be's" and re-created cars from C-codes and the like may have a place in the automotive world but not on this list and the information exchanged here shouldn't be diluted by them.
