Hello, I just finished restoring the side and rear wraparound fiberboard panels in my 65 Fastback. The last thing to do was to put the metal trim on the top of the panels at the rear - where the metal piece goes to connect the two sides and they want to bow at the center. I spent 3 hours carefully locating and aligning up the screw locations and now this. Any idea what happened? Has this happened to any of you? Rudy
Hi, I have attached a few pictures of the problem I have. Everything appeared to install just fine and it wasen't until the end when my metal trim bowed up when screwed in .Has anyone else had this happen to them?
I believe you got a smal piece missing that connnects those two moldings. It'd be a female piece that the other two slide into.
Rudy, I think you have them switched left and right. There is also the clip piece not in your picture ... I'm sure you know about it. jimbo
Gents, Yes, I am aware of the center cover being missing. The problem I'm having is getting the metal trim to stay down so I can put that center cover over the two ends. eljimb0, When you say I have them switched, what do I have switched, the metal trim? Thanks. Rudy
I think you may have the left trim on the right side and the right trim on the left side. The curve that follows the fiberglass around is a compound turn (not a flat turn). good luck those trim pieces are VERY hard to find..(be gentle with them) jimbo
eljimb0, You were right Sir! I did have the trim switched. They align nice and square. Now, to find the center metal cover. It seems everywhere I look, someone wants $10.00 for that little piece of trim. Thanks a lot for your help. Rudy
