David----What makes you think that the Boss 429 never raced in Nascar competition? Not only did it race, but it was a great success. Here is the beginning with a lot more to follow.
    Frank

Ford produced the "Boss 429" cid V8 in1969, but NASCAR ruled the new engine illegal for the "Daytona 500" because the engine hadn't met production standards, which meant there weren't enough of the "Boss 429" engines in cars being sold at Ford dealerships. A month later, at Atlanta, however, Ford met the NASCAR quota, and the engine was allowed to race and Cale Yarborough won with the "Boss 429" in a Wood Brothers car.

PS--- Your advise is right on,"quote" Buy what you like!

I see the 318 number quoted often for the KR converts. The actual number was 518 KR converts, I have one of them HEHEHEHE. The 1968 GT500 Convertible is actually more rare, 402 made.

    See 1968 Production Numbers below:

    Shelby Production
    Shelby G.T. 350 Convertible 404
    Shelby G.T. 500 Convertible 402
    Shelby GT500 KR Convertible 518
Shelby GT500 KR Convertible (Hertz) 1
    Shelby G.T. 350 Fastback 803
    Shelby G.T. 350 Fastback (Hertz) 224
    G.T. 500 Notchback Prototype (Green Hornet) 1
    Shelby G.T. 500 Fastback 1,044
    Shelby G.T. 500 Fastback (Hertz) 2
    Shelby GT500 KR Fastback 1,053
    Shelby G.T.500 Special Model 1
    Total 4,453

Frank, I guess I admit my history on the Nascar Ruling wass incorrect. Duly Noted! the Daytona 500 thing and lack of enough knowledge on them is a contributing factor! I am however on the trail of one......!!

David---I keep track on the movement of these cars and always know of some for sale. If you need any help, let me know. Also, the Boss 302 exchange has a separate forum for the discussion of the Boss 429's. Thanks to Randy Ream and Jeff Findley. Here's a link.
