Re: [Shelbymustang] Which Will Be The Best As AFuture CollectibleMustang? TheCarSource.com Shelby Mustang List ------------------------------------ Based on the past I doubt that any "instant" collectable such as the GT500 and the Hertz will be the best long range money maker. History has shown that most of the money on these will be made within the first 18-24 months. Each of the available cars has its positives and its weaknesses. Based on what the future misght bring I would not believe there are any currently that I would be happy with in 10-20 years Jeff S _______________________________________________ ShelbyMustang mailing list Send email to ShelbyMustang (AT) thecarsource (DOT) com Membership Administration http://thecarsource.com/mailman/listinfo/shelbymustang_thecarsource.com Group Web Page http://www.thecarsource.com/shelbymustang

Of the current offerings at this point in time, I have no real "favorites". When the dust settles, I may change my mind. Re: [Shelbymustang] Which Will Be The Best AsAFuture CollectibleMustang? TheCarSource.com Shelby Mustang List ------------------------------------ Just one more thought; with oil supplies dwindling and the price of gas increasing, fuel cells a near certainty in the future, how many more 500 HP mustangs do you really think Ford will build? 20 years from now may recall the 80's when 60's muscle cars were faster than just about anything on the street. The new cars coming out now (Z06, Viper, Challenger, Charger, Camaro) will never be made 20 years from now. So, buy the now and enjoy the heck out of them. If the appreciate in the future, let your kids/grandkids use the money. Re: [Shelbymustang] Which Will Be The Best AsAFuture CollectibleMustang? TheCarSource.com Shelby Mustang List ------------------------------------ I`ll back up Stan on his statement about the new GT-500s, they are nice but anyone buying one thinking they will make a lot of money down the road I think they are wrong, the money is going to made now, if you bought one for around sticker price you can make a profit, if you did not, then there will not be much left to make. You will be able to buy one any time you want for 10 to 20 over, when they cool off maybe less, just think back since 1980 and tell me how many cars are bringing more than they they listed for back then, your list will be short, now go back from 1900 till 1970s and tell me how many cars are worth more than they costed new your list will last forever, the problem is they cost a lot more now, it takes a long time for them to be worth more, plus the old ones are a hell of a lot more fun to work on. I`ll be the first to tell you the newer ones are great cars and do everything 10 times better than the old ones, thats why you drive the new ones and collect and stand back and look at the old ones. But don`t let that go to you young boys heads, we can probably take our 65-66 vintage race Shelbys and bust your ass. Re: [Shelbymustang] Which Will Be The Best AsAFutureCollectibleMustang? TheCarSource.com Shelby Mustang List ------------------------------------ All- Looking at Colin and Andy running hard at SAAC 31, Andy speaks the truth. Those '65's and '66's in race trim have a huge weight advantage over the newer cars and are much more nimble. I can only imagine how fast folks like Ken Miles, John McComb, Jerry Titus, Donohue and Van Beuren would be with the engine, suspension and brake improvements available today.
