[Shelbymustang] Which Will Be The Best As A Future Collectible

I'd say looking at my crystal ball trying to see what current model
of Mustang will hold its value or appreciate over the next 10-20
years I see a black hole. We are on a path that is going to make
gasoline as we know it either unavailable or scarce and expensive.
What good would a gas eating 500 HP car do me sitting in a garage
because I can't get fuel for it. I say this somewhat tongue in cheek
since in some ways that has happened since the 60's. It is difficult
for me to feed the original hi-octane gas burner I have in my 68 GT
350 now. Ten to twenty years from now we might be seeing a similar
trend of dropping a new technology drivetrain into an old bodied car.

There is another factor to consider and that is the buying public.
Shelby Mustangs, like other 60's muscle cars, are bringing high
prices due to who is wanting them. Baby boomers, people like us.
Watch the auctions on Speed. Those buyers are not teenagers or recent
college grads. Ten to twenty years from now we won't be the buyers.
It will be our kids or grand kids, as the case may be, collecting
those cars. (Speaking of the auctions, how can some of those Chevys
be bringing those prices? It sure is obvious what cars the audience
at the auctions favor. I watched some auctions that Ford fans were in
the minority big time.)

Sports cars will always be sought after. So what would be my
selection of a car that could be as collectible then as now? A new
Shelby or a Roush or Saleen. I like them all but would lean towards
the Roush because of what the car is and the limited production.
