A friend of mine in Europe is trying to order a 2007 Shelby through a dealership in California and has been told that the new Shelby will only be produced for one year (2007) and that a total of 7000 cars will be produced, true or false? He was also told that the dealer has to pay $50k to Ford and adding another $30k for themselves and $5k to the broker gives a total price of $85k plus shipping and taxes in Europe. I know nothing of Europe and maybe nothing about what is selling here but I believe tat the GT500 will be sold for 2007, 2008, and 2009. Again, I may be wrong but that's what I've heard and I have not specifically asked "those in the know." I say, if you're looking at those kind of numbers, wait a year or so and get one without the $30k markup. Randall

I have read that the mustang will have a major redesign for 2008. If this is true then I wonder what the 08 Shelby will look like.
I haven't heard of any major redesigns for 2008, but I imagine there will be some. 2009 will definitely be a major redesign: Modded Mustangs Article
I was at Akins Ford in Winder GA this morning, getting tires for a new SPF GT40 and Daytona Coupe, and they have a black GT500 ragtop in the showroom. I have to admit, I was underwhelmed. The Viper parked next to it caught my eye more. This one is all black, no stripes, going for $25k over sticker. They've sold and delivered 2 red fastbacks to one customer, I'm sure to be sold or auctioned for a profit. Maybe driving the car, I'd think differently, but I don't know, when I lift a hood, I like to actually see an engine, not a bunch of plastic. I can also put 2 poeple in my 67 GT350's backseat. I think I will pass on this one. I think as long as there is a demand, Ford will be selling these, and sending the royalty checks to CSI.
