Does any body have any experience in the new LED lights now available for the 69's. There are also halogen lights that fit into the 1157 sockets. The former is $200 the latter abor $60. If you have a 67-70 Shelby you know how poor the brake and turn lights are and I drive my 69 convert always holding my breath every time I stop or tutn in traffic!
http://www.mustangproject.com/ I highly recommend them. They are very bright and are still bright even when evening sun is shining on them directly. They are easy to install and I have had them on a 69 Boss, 70 and 68 Shelby. Mustang Project is located right here in Austin, Texas and they are good folks. The only problem is there no "clicking" when the turn signal is on.
Redfish, did you buy the universal kit for $189.00 or the tail light assembly for $489.00 ? Thanks, KensKR
I bought the $180 kit. The bulbs are replaced with rows of LEDs. And the flasher cansister(under dash) is replaced with their small circuit board. The results are really nice. The dynamite sticks are no longer needed and you directly wire up all the lights. Once this is completed, you have a system that is very reliable. I would say that my experience with dynamite sticks and other sequential boxes are a real nightmare if you drive your car.
Thanks Redfish for the quick reply. I've been fighting with weak brake and turn signal lights since I've owned the Shelby. I'm definitely going to order a set of the LEDs. Thanks Again Kenny
Redfish thanks for the information about the LED lights, I just finished the installation. I haven't brake lights this bright in the twenty five years I've owned the Shelby. Thanks Again, Kenny
I found that driving into a setting sun, the folks behind you could never see the original brake lights or turn signals. The last thing you want is rear ender while driving in the evenings. Both of these have the led brake lights.
