68 1/2 gt500KR ?

    I have never heard of such a model. Is there such a thing as a 1968 1/2 GT500KR?

    What would constitute the 1/2 year model, if so?

    The KR model was introduced midyear into the 68 production run therefore making it a 68 1/2 model. The KR also received the new 428 CJ engine which also was a midyear introduction. HTH.

    BTW, look at this beauty!! 68 Shelby KR Vert Wow I'm talking with the wife to see if [​IMG] could come early this year. hah :thumbsup: :thumbsup:

    I'm certain it will depend on who restored it, and to what extent, but would anybody bet on what this car will end up at? I bet between $225K-$250K

    Niether SAAC, nor Shelby has EVER identified the KR's as 68 1/2's. This car was called KR because of it's midyear introduction of the Shelby equipped 428 Cobra jet engine into the GT 500. Also, Shelby heard that Chevy was going to call their Camaro "the King of the Road". This owner must have been trying to add more "want" to it.
    68 1/2 Mustangs are identified as such because those have the 428 Cobra Jet motor.
    There isn't any 68 1/2 Shelbys

    No such Shelby as a 68 1/2 model anything. Pure fantasy. Also, theres a good chance that the " King Of The Road " moniker was based on a 68
    Mustang that Bob Taska of Taska Ford developed to sell Ford on the idea of the Cobra Jet engine. It utilized engine parts right out of the Ford parts bin.
    Ford took thr hint.

    The KR designation came from CS. Most of the parts developed for the KR (CJ) were after Bob's (Tasca) rant to Ford. The biggest difference was the C8OE N heads which are based on the 427 med riser heads. I've talked to him several times about this and he told Ford he was tired of being embarrassed with the 390 GT based motor vs the Chevy/Mopars of the day. Back then when Bob spoke, Ford listened. Too bad its not the same today.
