Greetings! I have a few history questions. How many of us are over the age of 40? At what age did you buy your first Mustang? How much did you pay? I just turned 45, graduated from high school in May of 1979 and bought my first Mustang at 17 in 1979 - a 1969 Mach I for $500.00.
Hi Rudy, Now 58 years of age, bought 1st Mustang in 1970, upon my return from Vietnam, a 1967 coupe (a C code automatic), for $1575. Yellow w/black vinyl roof and bench seat option. Wish I had "Marty" back! Now have 7 Mustangs in the family, and a new GT 500 coming. 15 year old son has a 1965 C code now, parked a few spots down from SFM5S241. It's in the water! Happy Labor Day!
I am 44 graduated in 80 Bought my 68 6cyl coupe for $800 in 1978 Bought my first Shelby a 67 350 for $9,500 In 1991 Larry
I am 38 graduated in 1986, bought my first Mustang a 66 GT Fastback for $300 in 1984 when I was 16. I still have it today. It was disassembled as the guy was going to restore it and gave up. The only picture I have right now is of it when it was pretty dirty. Original red car with red pony interior. I have been added to an upcoming issued of Shelby American records as the first person to buy a Shelby in which the car is older than the owner. I was born in 68, my car is a 67. I bought my Shelby in August of 1987.
I have never bought a Mustang. I may buy a Shelby GT when more is known in the next few months. robin

I'm 46 years old, I got my first Mustang when I was 15. It was a 65 fastback six cylinder 3spd. After totally disassembled it, it went back together with a modified 289, 4spd. disc brakes etc. I finally sold the Mustang to my now brother in law in order to buy my GT500KR that I've owned since 1982.
Hi, I am 58 years old and bought my first Mustang in 1973 in Sweden. A 66 3-speed C-code Coupe. After seeing the movie Red Line 7000 in 1965, I always dreamt about a 65 GT350. In 1977, I went to L.A. and bought a 67 GT500, #1317. In 1982 I bought 6S923 together with a friend and just before that I bought a 65 A-code Coupe. All in Sweden. After moving to the US in 1987, I bought a Boss 302 and in 1988 I got my dream car the 65 GT350, #5S275. In 2005 I bought a 65 C-code Coupe. Also have a 88 GT Conv. Am I crazy, sure, but I don't mind. This is a great hobby. By the way, still have the 65 GT350, 65 C-code and 88 Conv. in Texas and the 67 GT500 in Sweden. Best wishes for Labor Day. Texas Swede

45 next may....purchased my first mustang (a 1969 Mach 1) ten years ago, sold that for a '67 fastback - sold that in 2002 when i imported my 1966 GT350 from L.A. a survivor car with original numbered block, all original sheetmetal, 65% original paint, a BIG box of receipts and photos documenting it's history and all the $$$ spent on it going back to the early 70's with past owners including Keith Harvey (PAW) , Craig Conley (Paradise Wheels) and John Turpit (L.A Architect). Im in the process of building a shed for 6s349, a '78 Cobra II we use for a club car and all my white with blue stripe models and memorobilia collected over the years to keep together in one place - i'll post a picture when it's complete. cheers Graeme
I was 16 when I bought a 65 Mustang coupe in 1968 for $1200. 289 2bbl/3spd. My first Shelby: I was 19 in 1971 when I bought 67 GT350 #0036 for $1500.00 That Mustang is long gone, but the Shelby and I are still here.
I am 46 and bought my 68 GT500, that I still have, in 1978. Still makes me feel 18 when I drive it........ Kevin
I am 58. I bought my first Mustang in 1971. It was a blue '66 V8 coupe. One night, at 60 MPH we were rear-ended by a drunk driving a full size Mercury who was going well over 100 MPH. He hit the car in the left rear quarter, spun it around and nailed it the front before pushing it off the road. Luckily, the road was a little wet so we didn't flip it. Insurance fixed it, we drove it for about 5 years before selling it. (selling it was a big mistake). I owned another 66, and a HiPo fastback I bought and sold right away. I have owned the Shelby since 1979. Acquired it in a trade for CSX2580, which I had purchased crashed in 1977.
