GT500KR alternator light

I had to replace my voltage regulator with an electronic one instead of one of the old type with the coils. My alternator light stays on with the electronic voltage regulator. Does anyone still make the coil type, or is there a way to make the light go out using the electronic regulator.

Call them just to make sure it isn't a old cover on a electronic unit.

let me know if that fixes the problem? My alt. light on my KR is allways on, my temp. solution was a battery shut off switch. Ranger Jerry

I talked to Dallas Mustang yesterday, their voltage regulators are electronic with an old style top. Talked to the a person in the tech. dept. at Mustangs Unlimited today, their voltage regulators are the old coil type. I ordered one today, I'll let you know the out come in a few days.

Interestingly enough, I have one of the electronic types on our '68 GT350 and there are very occasional times that the alternator light is on. Everytime the next time I start the car it is off. It has never happened twice in a row and seems to happen when the car has been sitting unstarted for a longer period of time. I have had issues with the old coil types working right on the 68. It seems that the setting is generally set too low to keep the battery fully charged all the time.

I have the electronic style on all my old Mustangs and never had a problem with lights coming on or chargeing.

My new coil type voltage regulator came yesterday from Mustangs Unlimited. Just put it on a few minutes ago, as soon as the Shelby started the alternator light went OUT.
