1968 GT 500 KR FB Project Car on E-vil Bay

I have a project KR FB that I am selling this week - I have had it, in storage, for almost a year and I have decided to sell it to someone who has the time/money to finish it.

Back up on e bay it goes - I cannot remember the last time I had so many "tire kickers" on a Shelby car!! WOW!!

 

Yes, my "rant" of a year (or so) ago about a much cooler, leaner market is comming true - If I felt that an "upside" may happen, any time in the near future, I would pay to have the car finished, but I am not optimistic................

 

I don't really think either the fluctuating cost of energy or the interest rates has as much to do with the fact that people have, for the most part, moved on to "the next thing" -

Look, since the late 1990's Shelby's, BOSS Mustangs and other "specialty" high-performance Mustangs have enjoyed a tremendous "run-up" in value (and status) in the muscle car world. Everyone knew it would not last forever.

Additionally, the current Shelby lawsuit craze has hurt the hobby, as well. I know that Randall and I have not seen eye-to-eye on this but we still respect each others opinions about it. Every time a magazine talks about another lawsuit or licensing troubles for Shelby vendors, etc. we lose people interested in the hobby and/or buying a car.

People want to know that what they buy, for enjoyment, for a relaxing hobby, will not be any more trouble then what they perceive the risk to be (of buying an old car) to start with. You start talking about Ford and Shelby lawsuits, etc. the fun factor drops to negative and the guy/girl moves on to something else that is "safe".

Notice that I said Ford lawsuits, as well. I know that if I was a "newbee" to the hobby and I opened my issue of Mustang Monthly and saw, month after month, Ron Bramblett from Mustangs Plus give the whole world a play-by-play of his (and many other) vendors legal troubles with Ford I would not dive into that hobby. The world is stacked enough with frivolous lawsuits and a hobby is meant (for me anyways) to be relaxing and a form of "escape" from everyday real life.

I had a guy who wanted to buy this e bay yellow car and he called around and most resto shops are telling him that anything Shelby-unique on the car is 10x's more expensive then last year! That ran him off. Who wants to pay $ 475.00 for a stripe kit when you could have bought one for $ 39.95 from any number of vendors prior to July 1st of this year?

If you all think I am trying to be a kill-joy or down the market for my benefit (as has been suggest by many haters of me on this and other sites) understand this. I am selling NOT buying - what does that say about my personal thought process???
