hello, i am new to this site. i would like to say i have several mustangs mostly coupes and one fastbak recently sold 69 mah1 h code. and i also have a 66 c code convertible, AC with bench seat. 67 coupe 6 cyl, 66 v8 coupe and 68 69coupes v8. all project cars. ok enough of that! I found something about an hour away from my house in a very small rundown town in sunny CA. it is for shure a 65 or 66 fastback it may be a GT but i heard gt's only came with A codes. it is a C code but here is what is diff it has glass, instead of vents. (like the hertz or shelby. looks original, even the inner panels. did they put them with gt option or even in a standard fastback.?? (may not be real GT just has the front grille lites and gas cap. could be a diamond in the ruff.
Welcome to the site. My guess is that someone replaced the vents with windows on the fastback you are looking at. Feel free to post photos. robin
That window kit has been available in one form or another since they were new on 1966 Shelbys. Many fastbacks got them. The first ones had plastic (not fiberglass) inside parts.. If you ever install one or, see a Shelby with the window kit out for a paint job it is surprising the amount of mutilation inflicted on the car... jimbo
Since Shelby sold the quarter window kits over the counter; they found their way into many Mustangs. Infact, more than a few ended up installed in 1965 Shelbys as well. I have several friends with '65 Shelbys that installed the window kit as soon as it was available. A worth while addition as it improves the appearance ( doesn't look so top heavy ) and more importantly; it's a safety issue as it eliminates the blind spot on the right side of the car. As for installing this window kit; it all depends on the installer's finese and skill. Some can and some can't. shlby66
