How about this? A 2007 clone of a 2007 Shelby GT 500 from a Ford dealer-ship that can't get ahold of a real one ?!
guess it would help if I gave you all the link duhh http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Ford...02QQihZ005QQcategoryZ6236QQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem
Good. Now maybe they'll stop cloning the vintage ones. Sheesh, everybody has to get on the coat tails.
That's right up there with Christmas items appearing on display for sale at retailers in July or August. Might as well have the Christmas stuff on sale all year long. But like they say, "imitation is the finest form of flattery". There was a big article in my latest VFW magazine about Veteran wannabes, which in the past real Viet Nam Veterans like myself have had to put up with. "Now there is a new crop of bogus Iraq and Afghanistan veterans that are crawling out from under their rocks of empty lives and unfullfilled dreams looking for recognition they never earned." Pitiful, is all I can say. That dealer with the 2007 Shelby GT 500 look-alike better be careful. In the past, Shelby has cleaned the clocks of many who have done similar acts of copyright infringement. Doc
Yep - I saw it all last weekend too. A dealer in Bountiful, Utah has a 2007 "GT 350" on his lot. Wheels and a tape stripe kit is all it is. He better hope Shel doesn't see it.
I love the "Shelby Appearance Package". That's a new one!!!! How about "Appears to be non-genuine package" You know what's crazy? Someone will buy it by the weekend.
Thats a Bold Move by a Ford Dealer, Didn't Ford Tell Shelby, not to sell "Kits for Shelbys" to the public??? But if Ford really owns the rights to the Shelby name, what can Shelby do?? I can just hear it now, "It's a real Shelby, I got it just the way you see it now, here's the picture of me at the Dealership picking up the car brand-new, so don't tell me it's not a real Shelby". This can really mess up things for people collecting these cars later no down the road. By the way do the new Shelbys have a different VIN#?
They did a similar kind of thing with the "California Specials" in the 60's. Those cars were not annointed with Carroll Shelby holy water (by A.O.Smith) and therefore they are practicaly worthless today.. .. jimbo
Calif Specials are making a come back, they are starting to move up. Well at least you can look at the DSO for a Calif Special and a High Country Special.
