Looks to be the cream of the crop for any 66 lovers: http://www.atlantamusclecars.com/1966 Shelby GT 350/1966 Shelby GT 350.htm
Looks pretty good - don't remember it at SAAC 2004 but I see so many cars. Kind of an odd car (automatic non Hertz) with a few things (minor) that need correction. Wonder what number the car is.
Would be nice if the serial numbers were given on these adds. Thats the first question a prospective buyer asks. There were more '66 Shelbys with automatic transmissions made than most people realize. shlby66
Not counting the Hertz cars, if I remember correctly, there weren't many since they were not very popular with the group that originally purchased the cars. I think I remember counting all the automatic cars once and it was less than 10% I thought Have owned one since about 1980 or so (really don't remember when I bought it
SO little time so many Shelby's!!!! Honestly, I just kept getting conflicting numbers until I talked to David Matthews who gave me all the information. The car was disassembled yesterday.
I find this add for a '66 Shelby interesting from the claim that it's original list price was $2975.75. 1966 Shelby invoices generally show a dealers price of $3600-$3900 depending on how it was equipped. This usually meant a retail price of about $4100 to $4500. Gee, what a deal! shlby66
Regarding the number of non Hertz '66 350's produced with an automatic transmission: A quick look at the Shelby Registery shows of the 1377 units, 205 recieved automatics. Thats 15% of production. shlby66
