Just WHAT exactly is gonna make up that &75K "value-added" difference in price? Dave
My thoughts exactly. They would have to add a lot of HP and candy to make the car worth that much of a markup over a GT. Heck, a Saleen is about half that price! Hey guys! I too will buy a Mustang next year...It will be 400HP+ screamer...not these 300hp wimps...I was hopeing for a Shelby for 60-70K..but looks like i wont be banking on it...I will settle for a cobra or a Seleen if the pricing is 100K+....That sucks... HEY, why dont we all sign a paper telling Shelby we would/might buy a new shelby at a (ruff 60-70K) price or we will buy a Seleen..! Then maybe we can get together and buy 10...at sticker price without dealer markup!..power in numbers?.....There has got to be 10 people on this list that would like to buy a shelby at sticker...?.. Maybe he might do it and advertize it as the people with the old shelbys wanting the new ones!...something to that nature... ok...im done... Cevon... Interesting thread. Just a thought, but this sounds like deja vu all over again. Think back to 1964 and 1965 when Ford approached Shelby to "Shelbyize" Mustangs. They were an instant hit and that lasted until 1968 when things started to get a little dicey. Ford wanted more control and by 1969 Shelby wanted out of it and Ford was more than happy to oblige. At least part of the reason was that Shelby automobiles were now competing head to head with standard Ford vehicles and so sales dropped off. Fast forward to 2005. Why would Ford introduce a Shelby that at least price wise, would take away sales from Ford's bread and butter lines? So, I would suggest, they plan to introduce it as a low production vehicle available only to the folk with lots of disposable income. By limiting production and a high sticker price, there will be absolutely no competition to the standard Mustang.
