I own a 66gt350h early car restored and was thinking of trading it for a 67gt500 for the money the 66 gt350h seems to be increasing and the 67gt500 seems to be coming down and closer $$ after all the hipe a good choice or bad choice please give me some idea's thanks ,I've always loved a 67 500 as well as my 66 .
it appears that 67 500 cars are approaching the $200,000 and up range, I have yet to see a 66 GT350H go over $175,000 and that was for an appraisal not a sale. but that does not mean you may not find someone weary of scraping his knuckles when he changes spark plugs looking to downsize!
Just pull the export bace and valve covers and the plugs are in easy reach. I think if both cars are in equal condition then trade it if you really always wanted a 67. As far as long term value it seems to me until Gone in Sixty Seconds came out 66's were always worth more than 67's. Will the market return to pre Gone in Sixty Seconds status and move the 66's up or 67's down? I don't know, but I am sure someone on here has more insight into the Shelby market than I do.
I have noticed at some cruise nights, the more attention these cars get, alot of people in their 30's -40's do not seem to know much about them. But the teenagers go crazy over them. When I asked about their knowledge it's all about that movie " Gone in something" . So if it were not for the movie a few years ago, would the prices be what they are today ?---S.
I think the real spike in prices of 67's came indirectly from the movie. I remember when the first Unique Performance GT500E's went for sale at around $170,000. People said you can buy a "real" one for half that, well almost overnight the 67's went to close to $200,000.
Thanks guy's for the info ,the B jackson auction can play with some people's minds with pricing ,a 66gt350h went for $170.000 ? and 67 500 $240.000 ? ebay had a 67 500 buy it now for $140.000 in florida 1 month ago,and 66 350h's all over the board with pricing.
I personally hold no real trust in anything on eBay as far as judging prices. too much chance for falsely inflating or devaluing cars. think about it for a minute. list a car high or low . then have a couple others list and bid accordingly. you know in the matter of a month changed the course of direction because people believe what they saw on eBay!!
I agree with you about ebay if you don't own a mustang,shelby,boss, mach , now it's getting crazy for people to have take a "major" loan out to get one I guess good for us that own one now?.I've been looking for a rust free father&son project mustang 67 or 68 fastback and it's not easy.
I didn't ever think that it was "all about the money". If you own one, and that would be all you owned, what is the matter with having the one you always wanted? And, I don't know if you do any track time events, all that weight up front in a GT 500, well, don't be surprised if that is the time you start missing your 66. Me? Best of both worlds: I own a 67 Gt 350....
i was looking at a 67gt350 and have heard a lot of good things about handling compared to some big blocks thanks for info this sites great ! lots of interesting views.I've always dreamed of owning a 67 gt500 and it's a hard choice to make will i kick myself later and say i should have got the 67gt 500 after i purchase the 67gt350 ? lots of thinking!!!
Hi Greg you got any pics of your 67 gt500 ? my 66 gt350h is fully restored 4 years it took me and lots of $$. Ebay has a excellent 67 gt350 light blue a california car originaly . My friend said that it looked like a good solid car from the pics.
Smoked a few GT 500s on the track and the strip with my 67 GT 350. The last "true" shelby as it was the last year of the HIPO motor first year of the aggressive syling. That is why the small block 67 shelby is in my garage after much research and hand wringing (8 years ago) . My 2 cents.
early buddy's seems to be saying the same thing ,so i guess i need 1 67gt500 in the drive way for big block bragging rights and a 67gt350 for(smoking the other cars and performance &handling)what a dream!in my case it's one or the other thanks for good info.
Hi Paul, I have a few pics of my '67 project in the member's photo gallery.I got my car from California,not a spot of rust.Sure is different from what you get around here! I would like to see pics of your '66.
Put another vote for a 67 GT 350. You get the looks and handling and not bad performance either. Add a Paxton and smoke the GT 500 anyways. I could have easily found a 67 GT 500 when I was looking 6 years ago, but am glad I purchased a 67 GT 350. They are a little harder to find as they had about 1/2 the production (1175 units) of a 66 GT 350 or 67 GT 500. Not sure what is worth more these days a 66 GT 350 or a 67 GT 350. Looks like the blue one on Ebay went for $90,000 today. Didn't seem like too bad of a deal as a red one went a few weeks ago for $125,000 and was purchased by a dealer. I'm sure the price will go up from there on the red one. Jon
I agree Jon paxton will make a big differance and the pricing is as you said ,i think the blue one was cheap at $90.000 for a california car thanks .
hi greg my pics for my 66gt350h are also on the pictures site with the other 66gt350h's and starting with a california car makes all the differance your very lucky to have a goody like that ,that's what i'll be looking for thanks paul
