    I don't think thats a real Shelby GT500. I think it's a "Shelby GT500
Package" ( whatever that is) being marketed by Evolution; see their add at the end of the clip.

I have seen this car on other forums before. It is a real Shelby with different pully on the supercharger, tune and some other bolt on parts.

Just fun to see people enjoying them and not storing them in Moth Balls. There is going to be a lot of them made so you may as well drive them. There will be 5000 mint ones in 20 years.

that car is now in the 9's at over 140 in the quarter. It has more than just a pulley and cold air intake, but it is the fastest 500 in the country. It is tuned by a gentlemen by the name of Jon Lund, who definitely knows tuning .... He also has excellent tunes for the new GT. There are some vid's out on the net with dyno numbers and I believe some of a few runs on the track.

Who says it is the fastest in the country. He is not the only one modding these cars. I have seen others in the 9's now with only exhaust, tune and pully changes. Of course the suspension and tires are changed.

They have been claiming to have the Fastest 07 GT500 in the country for a couple of months now. I have yet to see anyone prove them wrong as yet. they are good guys and only a few miles from my studio. they did exhaust work on my former 67 GT500. Nothing but good talk I hear and know about them.

sounds like someone is having a minor hissy fit.... if you know of any time slips that are out there showing faster times, I'd appreciate it if you'd post them. ...

I don't know why you call it a "hissy fit" because I question when someone goes on line and says they are the fastest in the country. Anyone can do that. This is a big country and there is ALWAYS someone faster. I can name several regular 4.6 Mustangs running simular times. And Pauls High Performance is pulling more horsepower on their Shelby.

you are right, anyone can go online and claim to be the fastest. But, that's not what they did, they claim to be the fastest and they posted their times and speed to back it up. As far as making more horsepower, I think that's great, but the point being made was the speed and time, not the power. Power is great, if and only if you can put it on the ground and make it hook. If there's someone faster, great, that's just motivation for whoever claims to be the fastest, to get more out of their car and make it even quicker. But first, the others have to produce their slips. Like you said, some guy saying
he's faster doesn't make him faster. The clock is objective. I'm sure you know that power and torque on a dyno is a guide and a tuning tool. Car 1 on a given dyno can produce numbers that could be different than Car 1 on another dyno. The "hissy fit" was just my twisted way of getting a response and stirring the pot. Maybe if other slips were posted, these guys would figure
out they need to do some kind of heads up thing. Any publicity between them would only help advance interest in the car. That's the point, advance the Shelby name and cars. Nothing like a good grudge match to do that ....

    I recdntly visited with Fred

Cook. I was curious as to what they had done to the car to get it to run so well.

He was very open about the mods, and the packages they are/will be offering for the 2007 Shelby GT 500's. I have to say however, that when I mentioned that the driver needed a little work on his reaction times, he said he was the driver and that the runs were only for the purpose of the fastest E.T./ MPH, and that he did was not concerned about his reaction times. I said that it was pretty hard to cut a good light on a pro tree and he said he has had many perfect lights on pro tree's. Hmmmmmmmm. I have been NHRA drag racing for for somewhere around 40 years and have had perfect lights with all my muscle cars - on full tree's. I have never even come close to a perfect light on a pro tree. The one time I raced at the Spokane World AHRA finals, (they use a pro tree) and a lot of the door slammers racing there had the frame/suspension chained down/locked up, as well as the engine so that the suspension had basically no movement - so they could cut better lights on the pro tree - I was cutting .100 + lights, like .600 when .500 is a perfect R/T, and these guys were flabbegasted that I could cut such good lights. I felt frustrated, as I was used to averaging maybe .05 or .06 R/T's on NHRA full tree's, as on the full tree you can time the lights, and leave on the last amber. So for him to say he had cut all these perfect lights on a pro tree is a little questionable to me. But other than that he seemed like an ok guy. They offered different stage packages that will give anywhere form 87 R/W H/P - 67 R/W TQ to 167 R/W H/P - 148 R/W TQ when I talked to him, and maybe more now. They were working toward a twin screw KB blower. That car is a real Shelby, he said they have two, one for R & D/racing and the other one is a street car. The race car has a 4" aluminum driveshaft, 4:10 rear gears, 3" exhaust, full long tube headers/w/Xpipe, roll cage, stock K member, different spark plugs/mod intake/brakes/wheels/cobra kevlar racing seats/smaller pulley/tuning and runs race fuel. He said they just change the 02 sensors when they go south because of the race fuel. He also said the car weighed about 4000 # w/driver.

I'm sure there might have been other mods he didn't mention or I neglected to write down. They use the snake in the front grill to purge the nitrous, which I thought is pretty clever. YouTube - Evolution Performance - First 2007 Shelby GT500 In The 9's!

Sorry about the misspelling - seems like I always miss something - Up above I was trying to say "recently"

my point exactly, stir the pot and see what you get. now we all know that the outfit has different packages for our cars and they're doing all the research and testing. They'll be paid accordingly and we'll benefit by having toys that others will envy. Nothing like running thru the traps and looking back at a Z06

I'm not interested in stirring the pot. I just have seen new Shelby's at Milan dragway in the 10's. Justin Burcham has a 4.6 3 valve 05 Mustang running 9.23 @ 154 with stock body and full interior. If their Shelby is in the 9's now they may be the fastest for now. I just don't like being acccused of having a hissy fit for telling what I know.

one point of clarification - we were discussing the new GT500, not a GT 05 or any other car. No one said it was the fastest Mustang in the country, at least I don't believe so, we were discussing the 07 GT500. follow the bouncing ball.....

    May I suggest

all parties involved take a gander at the 2/07 Issue of Hot Rod Magazine, page Pages 70 through 75. That might shed a little light on the thread.

I did not think you had a Hissy and the other guy was just playing. but in defense of the Evolution guys, what is the weight difference between Justin's car and the new Shelby?? I believe the Shelby is much heavier, but I have been wrong before....:laf:
