The ones you need have the moulded round nuts , the square ones are for later bases !!
poss 69 although. Doug at factory muscle parts might have one !
On my KR they are round nuts !
    Hope this helps !

I just looked at mine and it has the square nuts. I've allways thought that mine was the original one from my car. My build date is June 4th with a release date of June 6th. Shelby Guy my KR # is 3077 just curious what's yours? Also what is your cars special color?

Hi Jerry, My car is #03405. it is special ford orange !
One of only 2 made !
Its funny as doug told me that the later air cleaners had the square nuts !
Does yours have like a flat bottom to it ?
Also has a dimple in the bottom for the carb needle nut as the kr was lower over the carb . interesting though, as this is the beauty of a forum !
    THX, John:mad:

John, my air cleaner base does have a flat bottom with a dimple in the back that lines up over the float level adjustment nut and screw. Is your car restoration finished? I bought mine in 1983 and have been restoring it ever since. I'm still looking for some hard to find parts, snorkle, smog tubes and anti-backfire canister bracket. I 'd love to see some picture of your car. I attached a picture of mine.

John, I was just out in the garage talking to my car and it said it seems to remember an orange car hanging around the old compound. (WHAT, like you guys never talk to your car!!) Love to see some picture.

FWIW, my early (April 30) build KR has the original base and square nuts...so square/round nuts (I've never actually seen round ones on an original) is obviously not an early/late thing.
