I bought a new gt 500.Black and grey stripes .I love the car and especially the history behind it.I paid $20k over sticker for the oppurtinty to own a very special car from a very special automobile hero of mine.
I am wondering if the owners of these cars are going to recieve and special plauque for the dash in the mail or anything?? I understand the hertz and the gt 350 get them because they are done in house but i honestly feel we are the buyers who paid top dollar for these cars and i hope that we recieve something to show off the authenticity of what we bought and love.

I will be saving for a mac toolbox to go along with the car when spring rolls around and $$ is not so hard to come by. I cannot afford it anymore than i could the car but i live for cars and thats just the way its always been and the way it always will be.Ive always put myself 1 step away from financial ruin when it comes to buying cars i love. Its either in your blood or its not :)

My wife promises a signed black die cast for my birthday :)

I called the Ford dealership to order a air bag cover which was actually part of the air bag.I could not afford it.I wanted to send it out for a signature.

I called the Ford dealer again to order the center section above the radio with the two vents so i could send it Carrol Shelby for his signature and then intstall it on my car.Once again, the prices are disgusting. $318.00 for a 3"X4" piece of plastic???!! I cannot believe it.I cannot afford that , I have 3 kids to worry about ....

I looked over the website and found I could have things signed for $200 per part.To me that is totatlly a fair price for his sgnature .The problem is, the parts are so expensive i cannot afford to do it.

So my question is, other than a svt certificate which i have for my other 2 svt vehicles, Are we going to recieve anything for our cars that individualize them to us anytime in the future?? I hope so I think we should because when you pay 50% over MSRP for a car because of your love for cars, i think some attention should be made to the owners?.

Nice car, and garage! There are some things in the works as well as some things that have already been put together. If money were no problem you could buy the 40th anniversary package from Shelby Autos. Obviously that is not an option here and it really doesn't answer your question, but other things that may interest you are currently being considered. Just remember, that's a brand new car you've got; give a little time and see how things look later in the year.

Be sure to register your car on the SAAC website. Only authorized Shelby vehicles can register there.

I just looked and saw there will be some plaques available soon. They are vin specific just like i hoped.......AWESOME!!!!!
I will also be ordering alot of those parts online soon as they are available.Like the underhood caps, floormats, handles and such. Thanks for making shelby specific parts for these cars.Thats great to be able to personalize it with actual shelby parts. It keeps us true to the shelby name rather than some aftermarket company.I was gonna order a aftermarket hood but now id rather put my $$ into shelby accesories. I have to say they are very tatefully done in premium materials too.Just what i would hope for with the shelby name!

Lightning, I saw that plaque too and it's just what I want, along with a list of other goodies that will be comming out. As to the premium we all pay over MSRP for this great auto, the dealers are lacking in the customer service area. Like you, I recieved nothing more than a set of keys when I left the dealership.

Fortunately, Ford loves to survey customers. I was happy in all aspects of the purchase, but felt my experiance was cheapened by the lack of any Shelby merchandise. If I'm paying thousands over MSRP, can't they even toss in a hat?

Thats the thing exactly.I dont expect anything for nothing but like you said.A certificate, die cast car ,garage banner ,keychain, with a hat and maybe some literature.$100 worth of neat little shelby specific merchandise would go along way to the owners just so they feel like they were a little special.I dont think its up to shelby inc to do it.Ford should have done it from the start! We all know the cars are special are and with the millions of people in the world we are definatley a lucky few to own!!

Well it wouldn't be really something for nothing, there's that premium thing. But it certainly isn't Shelby's issue, it belongs to Ford, the dealer's in particular. If a dealer really want's to sell Shelby GT500's, Ford GT's and future cars of this caliber, they should get some training on making these kind of buys a wonderful experiance.

Dealers, "You're not selling Escorts any more, rise to the occasion!"

Back in 1999 I bought a 35th anniversary package Mustang GT. Ford sent a whole box of goodies to me. They included a large diecast of the car and lots of cool things. I still have the box of stuff but, traded the car in on a 01 Cobra a few years later. It is just one of the little things that leave a good taste in your mouth after purchasing a Ford car.

67GT500, I bet that did give you a feeling that you wanted to come back to a Ford dealer again. I've been loyal to the blue oval for years, and will continue to be, but I wish the dealers or Ford itself would take a hint.

Its not just ford dealers. Its nice to know that even though you bought the " best mustang ever" you would get the same kind of customer service if you bought a focus. You might do better with a focus because nobody wants to deal with owners who are enthusiast for one reason or another.Probally because we come online and cry like me  They dont mind raping you on the price but dont wanna help in any other way. Nobody cares about us.I called SVT about wheel hop, they said its normal for a 500 hp car, BULLSHIIIT!!.I asked them about the clutch chatter ,I guess Im not launching it at a higher enough rpm??? Ya , OK

I cannot wait for the camaro and challenger. Maybe one of them you will be able to drive without wheelhop or clutch chatter. Its great not being brand loyal....... The only reason i have 3 svts in my garage is because they were the best vehicles in their class. That might be changing real soon......Ford lost ALL my respect when they pulled the plug on a new Lightning to build the rich people a gt 40.......There are ALOT of Lightning enthusiast out there and im at the top!! my 93 has 2700 miles and is nice as the day it rolled off the floor.Ive owned 4 gen 2 lightnings in 99/00/02/04The reason i bought the shelby is because even with the couple of issues with the car, its the best out right now and it has the shelby name on it.Im not mad at the car, its the people behind it...FORD MOTOR COMPANY.Rant over:alarm:

These companies better wake up becuase its not just about the car anymore, its about the whole buying experience.
