I know this is a shelby forum and I love it -- I own a 68 kr vert that I love -- it's actually undergoing a frame off as we speak -- so my brother and I have decided to make some room for a new project and we are taking our 1968 Chevelle ss 396 vert to Barrett Jackson -- it's nice -- automatic -- number matching matador red -- white interior -- complete rebuild -- frame off -- paint is a 9+ -- fit and finish excellent -- now I know I'm only posting one pic -- but for fun give a guess as to the auction price -- we are rolling across the block late on friday night -- the eve of big saturday when the high end stuff crosses the block -- we have no idea what we are in for -- nervous though -- i won't be offended by low guesses -- but when i return from arizona on jan 20 -- i will retell the experience -- we are lot number 1082 -- if you go on the barrett jackson website you will see other pics of the car -- thanks for looking -- of course i will check out all the shelbys while i'm there and take great pics -- neelfryer -- just tried to load the pics and they are 1.7mb -- too big -- if you wanna see all the pics go to barrett jackson's site and check out lot 1082 -- thanks

I don't have a clue and it's not the first time I have said that! Buyers of Shelbys put a lot of stock into originality. The SS may be a ground up restoration, but I notice a lot of non-original parts (like exhaust and engine detailing items). I am not sure how the Cheby dudes feel, but if this were your KR, I don't think it would draw the top dollars.... but it would do very well.

coral snake -- you make good points -- the wheels are late model ss wheels -- the exhaust is new and i think we put a non-correct carb on there -- we have since those photos put new rubber and replated the original chrome air cleaner -- but the motor and trans are original numbers matching and the colors are original red/white -- but honestly it would seem that 68 is absolutely the poorest cousin -- it may be the least desirable chevelle -- they only made like 2000 ss verts in 68 -- so I like you have no idea -- they are selling 3 others during the auction and overall there are many chevelles -- maybe our fit and finish and color combo will carry us through -- we are deep ...well pretty deep money wise in this car -- a dry run at bj -- never been there -- don't know what to expect -- j

I think a big block convertible will do very well. Best of luck. You can always buy the bidders somw extra drinks if needed ...

Did you have any input as to schedule? Late Friday night seems like a good spot. Just wondered how that worked...

no -- you have no say -- they arte your car and group it with other cars that they think will sell for the same money -- they put us on or around 50 -- and they offered us late friday night or sunday afternoon -- go figure -- we ended up pulling out because they made a mistake and didn't put our picture in the bidders guide catalog -- we're gonna keep it for now -- it's on e-bay but I'm not expecting to sell it -- thanks -- john

Sometimes things like that happen and turn out to be a blessing in disguise. Your car may really jump in value this year... seems like 396 cars are undervalued presently, even if they are that other brand.

    good luck.
