This car Ain't no PT Cruiser and when they are gone they are gone.
I certainly wont be getting rid of mine any time soon. I cant imagine anyone that gets one will want to give it up in a year or ten. Ford is building lots of special
Mustangs for less money. At least thats what I hear.I defiantly wont give mine up for cheep either. So I couldn't wait I also didn't want to pay over sticker for it either. But i did . lots cheaper than in evil bay.Ford should be mad 'cause I hear that they could use some extra green in the bank. B)

I have seen the Camaro up close, real close, and if Chevy builds this car like it is it is a winner. Now don't get me wrong, i'm a Ford man all the way. I talked to a Chevy big wheel who was their with the new Camaro and he said that Chevy had to start from scrach to build this car, and they invested a lot of money in it. Now for some real inside info, Chevy wanted someone outside Chevy to build the two prototypes, they could not build them in time so, do you know who actually built them???

I know there are a few firms that build specialty prototypes for the large auto manufacturers. I was talking to a couple guys that work for one of them last January at the NAIAS in Detroit. They said they have to be very secretive and use different facilities for each manufacturer so for instance, the Ford guys don't see what is being built for the GM guys. I can't remember the name of the company but they built
the Ford Super Chief and Cadillac Sixteen. Sounds like a very interesting line of business.

Back to the Ford dealership subject. My friend's 2007 GT500 that I drove around last week was purchased for below MSRP. He just has a good relationship with the dealer because of numerous other car purchases over the years. I know that this is an exception to the norm but goes to show that they are not all jacking up the prices just because they can.

Your friend is very lucky to have that kind of relitionship with a dealer.
He surely had to buy some expensive or a lot of cars to get a deal that good.
I wish I could have been that lucky. I feel very fortunite to even get one at all.
I had to pay a premium but not as bad as some. fast as a corvette and cheeper.

I did't get a super deal either but feel fortunate to have scored one within my budget. 300million people in the country now and only 10 K cars to be made your odds are not good - lots of folks with the money to pay whatever it takes. To those that perfer to wait and hope the price goes down - good luck. I never figured I would ever have a chance to own a new Shelby. I was 16 in 1970 and just missed the musclecar era but I'm not gonna miss the train this time!

I recently read that Chevy's new Impala will be a 4-door based on the new Camaro platform. That is probably the doors they are making. By the way did anyone see the new Mustang base sedan?

Anyone notice (other than me) that Shelby prices are NOT decreasing. My Shelby is due in next month and still don't feel like I made a bad decision. For those that choose to wait, better get your name on a list somewhere for an 08 car. To those that decided to buy a vett - just remember, at the end of the day all you have is a vett!

Give it some time, the prices will fall to MSRP, the same thing happened to the Ford GT, it just took two years and now they can be had for less than MSRP and more are showing up used for less than that. We have a few dealers in the area that have cars and no takers at 20K over, one had a list of 30 people and not one bit, what did that kind of information do to Fords bean counters when they were counting cars to be sold? A fair amount of new owners will grow out of them and move on to the next thing, they always do, GT's, 2000 cobra R's,and so on , it's in the human nature .

Looks the the market leveled off around 60K. I got mine for 60K, tax title, license, dealer prep - out the door.

I bought my FORD GT last month for MSRP (166K) and yes there are many folks that paid 2 or 3 times MSRP when the GT first came out about 2 years ago. There is a big difference in the number of folks that can afford a 300K car vs a 60K car and that helped bring the market value of the car back to near MSRP. Hell even a Ford truck can run 60K today so the number of folks with that kind of money to spend on vehicle is huge. The last GT rolled off the assembly line a few months ago and the supply of new (less than 5 mile) cars has decreased dramatically (perhaps a few dozen in the country). It will be interesting to see where the price of these cars goes from here.

    KMC,
The shear number of new shelby's alone will bring the prices down, for Ford it's new sales, after the pipe line is full and used cars are competing with new cars sales that's when the market will change, unlike the GT that is now done and no new cars are being made, you may see a level off on prices or even a slight drop. Not to long ago a 2006 heritage GT sold for around $140,000.00 , the owner needed out ASAP, car had around 1500 miles, if your holding on to the car with putting no miles on it , you will have a long wait on any return on a modern age car. I still see cars for 7 to 9k off MSRP today, there are still more available than you may think. Even at $60,000.00 there are only so many that can or will pay that , what if when the market turns and you go to trade the car in , and the dealer will only give you less than MSRP because he has new cars waiting to be sold?

I just trailered my gt500 convert home today from the Buffalo rail yard (long story!) I got mine for msrp, but only because i went to my dealer way early and told hime he'd be getting one, and i wanted it!! I'm sure that if i had waited any longer, i'd never have gotten it at that price. so far, it seems like a fabulous car.
