help with paint colors?

Discussion in 'Shelby Mustang List' started by Shlbyman@aol.com, Feb 23, 2005.

  1. I would like some help with the proper "slop gray" for bottom of 69 Shelby.
Do they make a rattle can of it? Also is this the same used for shock tower
braces, battery tray, etc? I found a website - Restoremustangs.com, who list a
spray can of slop gray. But I cannot get them to answer emails or their
telephone to ask questions about if it is correct for this use.

I have used a red oxide primer from them, on my differential that looks more
    brown than red.
I dont know what to use there either. Thanks Roger 70 Gt500 1156

  3. Roger:
My understanding is that slop gray was an amalgam of all the left over paint for the day. It could be a light gray to a dark, almost black gray with a purplish tint. It could be similar to the slop gray for the Shelby export brace and hood latch support. I bought my slop gray in a rattle can from NPD. It seemed to be O.K. with the judges. I think they also sell a red oxide paint. The red oxide on our Shelby was a more red than brown color. The same red oxide is used on the pumpkin of the rear end, same Ditzler code. The proper Ditzler code for the red oxide primer is DP 74
I am not aware of any code for the slop gray.
    Hope this helps.
